So does this mean I can do the PM version of drunk dialing you when I'm lonely? Seriously though thanks, I already enjoy this group a lot so I'm planning on staying.

Oh god yes.
Er, I mean, yes sure. They certainly give an interesting look into a person ^.^;

There's a discussion going on in one of the groups I'm in about the possibility of private groups being deleted. While that scenario is unlikely, it does seem like that private groups do not get a lot of love from the web team, and I'm willing to bet that there will be no updates or new additions to private groups when the site change is initiated.

I'm getting off topic though, back to what this thread is supposed to be about. Do you think private groups are important to Bungie, or are they on there way out? From my perspective a lot of groups are dying, on a downward spiral, or going off sight due to the fact they have more freedom to operate. I could just be paranoid but I wanted to see what you guys think.

Yes. The reason I continue my visits to b.net.

Private groups are important.

RC Clone is the anti-thesis of a lurker.

I doubt that private groups will be removed as a feature of this site anytime soon. I just don't see why they would be removed all of a sudden.

  • 02.04.2012 1:15 PM PDT

I get the feeling private groups will get an upgrade when the next site update is rolled out.

  • 02.04.2012 1:15 PM PDT

They're is only really a couple of active groups, and thats sapphire, eros, the mlp group, coup group and thats about it. It might be the end of private groups as we know it. This can't be the end though. Private groups are like the heart of b.net. Beside, how would the mods and forum admins discuss super secret stuff like they do in HFCS?

Who the hell do you think I am?

I'm positive they would never get rid of private groups. That's preposterous.

I thought they locked it down and moved to its own website?

Lol. I'll take that bet in a heartbeat.

Private Groups are long outdated and in need of love, and Bungie has seen the power that they posess to bring people together.

I expect to see a lot of changes.

There are many active private groups, just they aren't up at the top of the publicity scale.
Private groups are a great featue of this site as they grant users an area that they can personalize and make their own, I highly doubt that a feature with such potential as this would be removed.
Besides, I, and many others, was under the impression that private groups were getting an overhaul with the drop of the next major site update.

Private groups are the main reason that I stay here, to be honest.

And I would happily lose that bet, I never hear anything about changes, improvements, or new additions being made to private groups so I'm a tad cynical. Have you heard anything to prove me otherwise.

Don't forget the Marty Army, the Black Chapter, etc. I would also mention this group and post a link to it, but you're really not supposed to join etc.

Pretty much the only ones that aren't doing well are the ones that haven't ever really done that well. I mean, it's hard to keep people interested for a period of years, so obviously the only ones that survive are the ones that give people a reason to come back.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

Private groups are better than the mains. They aren't going anywhere.

ECOH Cam What are your thoughts on the sudden increase in community activity - all the community organized events and such?

All part of the plan! A healthy online community is the sum of its citizens. You are the most important ingredient in the concoction of spicy mayhem and carnage upon which we all feast. As someone who is desperate to feed you meaty updates of our work-in-progress, I am thrilled that we can appetize on games we are playing, and maybe even play them together. As for changing the way private groups operate? I am not the head chef in that kitchen. Top men are working on it. Top. Spicy. Men.

Not to me.

  • 02.04.2012 1:35 PM PDT

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.
~M.D~

yeah they're fun. I'm on the flood most of the time though.

  • 02.04.2012 1:35 PM PDT

If you are watching this you have clicked on my profile or stolen this. I dont know why you would do that...

About me? I love Astronomy, I like to play guitar and watch anime. My future lies in Astronomy and so does the future of all of humanity. You should join my Astronomy group Space Explorers.

If private groups where to be deleted, I would most likely stop visiting this site. Of course I would then come back when new info about their games comes out, but not more than that.

I manage a group with over 100 members and I enjoy discussing with fellow members in TAC. Private groups are very important and they should get a few upgrades. Mostly about more characters for group news which I have been complaining a lot about. Then they need options for turning on and off filters, more room for member titles and a lot more. The reason they won't give us most of that is because they aren't really needed. (More characters for group news are REALLY needed though)

As much as private groups are important, they aren't Bungies main focus. Their main focus is on the games and the main forums themself. I doubt private groups will be deleted though.

  • 02.04.2012 1:35 PM PDT

What?! Are you joking? Bungie.net would never delete the private groups. I think there are cooler and nicer people in groups than the forums. So they had a problem today and we couldn't access our profiles, doesn't mean they'll do anything like that.

If anything they'll update them and a few other things on the website in March/April.

Sorry if I sounded like I was having a rant, i'm not aha, this thread just shocked me! ;)

~Long Live Halo 2
Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

While I make 5-7 posts a day in public forums, I probably make about double that in private groups.

  • 02.04.2012 1:50 PM PDT

Just because not everybody uses them does not mean they should be removed.
