Gravemind was Keyes but he grew after being placed on delta Halo that's why theres Covenant there to feed the flood (in a certain point of view) by the way the great journey has to do with time travel i'll tell more if you want to know

but in a cutscene in halo 2 gravemind says "i have listened through rock and metal and time"
i think he is older than like 2 years, but dates back to the forrunners.

maybe he grew out of a forrunner septic tank...

As well, in I think its "Mausoleum Suite" of the Halo 2 Soundtrack Vol. 2, if you listen to it backwards you hear Gravemind say he has been around for over 3000 years.

I just wann know

I believe Gravemind is composed the same fashion as a Jellyfish, or ant colony:

They all work together to form one entity, yet can seperate into smaller groups/cells if needed in order to survive as a whole. They all think together, to form a unified intellegence.

However, I think Gravemind/flood are more like Jellyfish...because Gravemind didn't want to kill MC, yet the seperated parts were still hostile.

This would explain what happened to keyes on the covenant cruiser in Halo 1. Since a portion of the flood was seperated from it's whole (gravemind) the flood began to create a new home/leader...kinda like what happens when you put a group of ants in an ant farm?

He was created by the flood. He is made up of the bodies of the floods enemies and fallen combat forms. The flood form that Captain Keyes turns into in Halo 1 was the start of a Gravemind.

no cuz hes been around for ages

He is a testament to all your sins. So basically, you created him by being such a bad person.

Not possible, unless for some unexplained reason Halo:CE took place thousands of years before Halo 2, because it's obvious that the Gravemind is really, really old.

What if Gravemind is really an advanced Flood-Forerunner form? He has been around since the Forerunners, so it could be possible.

I didn't say that the gravemind we meet on Delta Halo is Keyes, I said that the keyes form was the start of a gravemind.
