Subject: Why are nades grossly overpowered?

Because Halo 3 nades had a skill gap. Sage wasn't about to let that happen.

I've never considered frags having a skill gap. Though I can agree with you if you're talking about stickies.

I think the Grenade Launcher has a skill gap, but not grenades.

How?

Well, it was always an advantage to be fraggin' like a pro.

/T2 reference.. But being good with frags in H3 was a huge advantage for me. Good placement, playing the bounces and angles put you a step ahead.

I can't wait for the day my hustle game don't gotta start this way.
AIM - c.ommview
Skype - Residue

Because nades, like everything else in this game were built around AA's. Even then, evade is probably the only useful AA to dodge a nade.

Nope. SouthPole isn't a person. He's the avatar of the force of tryhards everywhere. He stalks the web looking for retards to set straight. He can not be stopped by mere bans or thread locks for he shall rise anew.

Bad Kids will always do things like "spamming" nades and using the melee waaaay too much.

But the difference between Halo 3 and Reach is that that -blam!- didn't work in Halo 3. Doing that wouldn't get you kills, especially not on good players.

I think it was to make up for the slow kill times bloom and AA's created.

Fuse is way too short. When some arsehole who choses NR in slayer pro only coz of stickies sticks me, I want to at least have a chance to run right next to him so he can have a taste of his own medicine.

Also, explosion area is bull-blam!-. Has the blast radius of a MAC.

Immortality: A toy which people cry for, And on their knees apply for, Dispute, contend and lie for, And if allowed Would be right proud Eternally to die for.

That's why we have armor lock, To counter 'nades.

They're not. They just explode too fast and we're too slow.

This. Increase both.

This.

Halo 1 nades were mini-nukes, but at least they were balanced by a long fuse time and that they had to be at rest to detonate.

If by "skill gap" you mean "they had the blast radius and power of a firecracker", then yes, they had a "skill gap".

Canon really shouldn't effect gameplay, but it does.

Canon should never effect gameplay.

Take me through the thought process. I wish to understand the reasoning behind this.

They're not, It's just that no one likes you so they made it to were you take 4 times the damage from a grenade, while we only take half.

No, if I wanted to say that I would have.
They weren't "firecrackers". It just depended on who was using them.

You mean the game were nades took a lot longer to explode and you could actually get away from them in time?

Grenades seem to be as strong in Reach as they are in any other game in the series.

It's not the damage. It's that they are less avoidable.

It doesn't seem like it.

Frag grenades made up 5% of my deaths in Halo 3 and 7% in Reach, while plasma grenades made up 4% in Halo 3 and only 3% in Reach.

Of course, that 1% difference could certainly mean that grenades are less avoidable, even if only marginally so, but that's such a small percentage that it seems a bit dramatic for people to call them overpowered.

You don't just die to them. People can also use them to take out your shield and get a headshot on you.

In my experience that's been a common use for grenades since Halo 2.

Forget it man, and get with the countdown. Shake this square world and blast off for Kicksville.

Yes, but the issue now is that it's a far more effective tactic for unskilled players.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

To think that people want Reach nades to share the same physics as Halo 3...
