Subject: Why are nades grossly overpowered?

Why are nades grossly overpowered?

Isn't it obvious? So terrible players can get kills they in no way, shape or form deserve.

They're not. They just explode too fast and we're too slow.

To slighten the skill cap, essential in keeping the casual crowd happy. Duh.

Halo has always been about grenade fights.

Relax. I'd rather not piss this thing off.

-Master Chief

I dont see how they are Op, since you can only carry two of each granades each. They do match up to any other games grenades, all just depends on how you use them.

In my experience that's been a common use for grenades since Halo 2.

Yes, but the issue now is that it's a far more effective tactic for unskilled players.

How is that?

It's easier to get extremely good nade placements because of the way they bounce and how short the fuse is and harder to avoid them once they are coming at you because of slower movement speed and low jump height.

Even so, between Armor Abilities like Evade and Armor Lock and the increased movement speed in the anniversary playlists, avoiding a grenade seems to be easier than ever.

Forget it man, and get with the countdown. Shake this square world and blast off for Kicksville.

Reach host ranking algorithm: (a*quit_percentage + b*isMexican + c*(1/KDR) + d*hasGuest) * 100
where a > b = d > c

Yes, because Evade is in every playlist.

Clearly we were discussing Anniversary, too.

AA's are there to try to correct problems that other mechanics have.

Why does it matter that Evade isn't in every playlist? Sprint, Armor Lock, and even Jetpack can be just as useful in avoiding grenade damage.

That doesn't make sense.

Please explain.

The reason you can't jump as high as in previous Halo games is because of the Jetpack AA.

The reason you can't move as fast as in previous Halo games is because of the Sprint/Evade AAs.

The reason your grenades are nukes is because of the Armor Lock AA.

In other words, they messed up the rest of the game to promote their stupid gimmick.

Just like VATS in Fallout 3; they made actual aiming suck to promote their "slow-down-time-and-autoaim" button.

The stupid gimmick and the rest of the messed up game work together to balance each other out.

If grenades were nukes they would be everyone's first or second tool of destruction. They would also account for a large percentage of your deaths, especially when compared to Halo 3.

As for Fallout 3, it was never designed with the intention of creating an FPS. It's an RPG, and like all RPG's your chance to hit isn't based how well you can aim, but on the value of your character's accuracy.

  • 02.05.2012 1:30 PM PDT

Everyone look at me! I got the gravity hammer! You shall worship me as if I were a god!(shot fired, kills me, everyone goes back to fighting each other.)

From what other people have posted-

Problem: short fuse times and slow movement speed.
Solution: longer fuse times, and if its still a problem then make the movement speed faster.

nerfing armor lock made grenades a lot harder to avoid

It's not really the grenade that's the problem as it is the game mechanics fault. You see, we can't jump as high or run as fast as in the previous Halo games, so it's really hard to avoid the blast radius of a grenade.

Let's make grenades more powerful.

But then we can't avoid them.

Put some lights on them then.
