Subject: Dear Number 24,

Key

I hate you. I despise you. I loathe you with all of my being. Whenever I choose to go on Bungie.net and register my opinion or point out facts on the subjects of the day, you seem to always be there waiting to foil my plans to participate in this community. I'm a simple man. A young man. Some might'nt even call me a man at all. I certainly wouldn't. And the fact is, my even-number-of-a-friend, you seem to absolutely adore getting in my way. This is a problem that has to stop.

I go to post in a thread with an original post and/or a response to another post, without being fully aware of my surroundings as I click that gray reply button just below the thread's most recent entry. I do not realize I am nearly at the bottom of the extent of the page for this thread. I do not realize that I am currently about to envelope my opinion in a metaphorical shroud of inopportunity. For you see, Mr. Multiple of Six, when my post of the page I am on is assigned your name as it's ordinal number in sequence of posts on said page... it becomes the last post on that page. A part of that page that is hardly going to be looked at by any of my peers on the site, and will surely be almost completely overlooked.

Can you, my factor of forty-eight , show me a post of monumental proportions, remembered through the ages and referenced by many that has ever been the 24th post on a page? I'm going to wager against your odds in locating such a post, because it does not exist.

How I wish my annoyances with you could cease to exist but, alas, they cannot. You are a necessary evil for, if we were to eradicate you from all possibility, we would only then have to deal with your neighbor, Mrs. Twenty Three.

Yours, Most Annoyedly,

CrazzySnipe55

Topic of Discussion: How do you feel when you realize you've just posted the 24th post on a page and that your post is most likely going to be completely ignored upon the posting of the subsequent forumgoer?

Or, adversely, what is your opinion on the actual popularity of the 24th post on a page? Does it matter at all which post number you make as long as it is a good post?

To all of those who had to read this post in its original form: I am deeply sorry.

I am forever noob!

I think that the matter of post is the value that is based on it, not the number of pages or quotes it has...

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

I usually find that if what I've said was important or added to the discussion, someone will often find it and quote it. If not, whatever.

It can be annoying sometimes though.

EDIT: Everyone, ignore the 25th post in this thread.

I have found that in a slower moving forum (so not the flood or a game forum at its height) the final post on a page usually gets the attention it deserves.

When posts seem to get ignored is when they are in the middle of a conversation between two people. They continue to quote each other, and it ends up burying the posts in the middle.

Isn't the 25 post the first post on the second page? Or am I counting wrong?

The 25th reply is the first post on the second page. This is because there are 25 posts per page, but the reply counter doesn't include the OP. This is why all of the multiples of 25 are the new pages.

*scratches nuts*

Technically post 24 is the last one on the first page because the OP doesn't count as a post.

And if your post was actually worth discussing and not mindless dribble people might be more inclined to appease the part of you that craves attention.

Alright. Re-reading the OP clarifies it a bit. If your post is of good quality it will be acknowledged regardless of its location.

Post 24 is definitely worst. Post 25 gives you your own little OP.

The fact of the matter is that when you're the last post on the page, there will be lots of people who don't even see it as they'll view the first page and the most recent page and even if they go onto the page that you're on they could very likely skim over the last post.

I always go to the bottom post to reply to a thread. So I pretty much always read the last post.

The point of having a discussion is for it to be 2 way. This place would be awfully dull if it consisted of nothing but people through their opinions into a jar and nobody bothering to take any of them out and reply to them.

If people don't reply to you, there is no discussion. Just a statement/opinion being thrown out there (to nobody). If something hinders this two-way conversation, it is a bad thing considering the entire reason that the Bungie.net forums exists is to facilitate such conversations.

Well how do you propose we fix this problem then? Reduce the amount of posts per page so post 23 becomes the last one? All you've done there is shifted the problem.

As far as I'm concerned this isn't even a big deal. If people replying to your nonsense is such a big deal to you then hold off posting until a 2nd page has been created.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.
-TGP-

I always thought about making a thread complaining about this, but I was too lazy. Yes, I do hate being the 24th poster on a thread. I hope this post doesn't end up being ironic.

I addressed in my OP that it was an unsolvable problem. Did you read it?

I was just saying that it's an annoying reality.

I don't see the problem. It shouldn't be a bother to anyone and I think your claims of being ignored because of it are greatly exaggerated.
