Subject: Why do some Halo fans hate on Reach?

the gun pointed at the head of the universe

But with Reach, they took a step backward by literally going backward. They should never have done a prequel to CE. The reason is because we all were watching Master Chief and technology advance to the next Halo. All of the sudden, they got rid of it and took out what so many players loved.

Doing a prequel was brilliant. Bungie did bring us the halo universe, and they had told the story they wanted to tell, so if microsoft wanted more games then bungie obviously wanted them to fit within the story they had already told.

And Reach is a good addition to that story. When the pillar of autumn reaches installation 04, Bungies Halo universe came full circle.

I like the game but something about it just doesn't have that Halo feel.

Campaign flat out sucked.
I would of prefered no Reach at all and imagining what could of happened instead of having Reach, and knowing it was crap.

fear me, for i am pro sauce

there isnt one big problem that makes reach "bad", it is lots of little problems that could easily be fixed but arent

  • 02.05.2012 11:31 AM PDT

i just find reach boring unlike halo3 and 2 you had to work for your rank and communicate more ect to achieve it unlike reach for example you can just afk firefight for a few months and ta-dah your a inheritor

Plus, Reach just doesn't have the Halo feel. Its hard to describe but it has nothing to do with how people complain about a sequel wishing for the previous installment. Reach just is a weird game. If you've noticed, the only thing making it seem more like a Halo game is by bringing back all of the old school stuff like Anniversary, old maps etc. Once Halo 4 comes out, Reach will be treated as if it never happened.

Relax. I'd rather not piss this thing off.

-Master Chief

From my guessing its because theres different things such as armor abilities in Reach, than any other Halo game. It all depends on who the Halo player type the person is.

Reach is the low point of the Halo series. To a fair number of Halo fans, it'll forever be the awkwardly retarded child that no one likes. The complaints have been streaming in for over a year, so it's pretty easy to find out why.

It broke the "established" cannon, it's campaign was bad, it's multiplayer is a train wreck, and worst of all it's imprinted on some of the new Halo things such as, Glasslands.

So at this point, it looks like Reach is leaning towards the awkwardly retarded child that all the other little children are taking an example of.

How did Reach infect Glasslands?

Halo: Reach is the beginning of a new age for gaming.
It proves that developers can get away with punishing their players instead of fixing their game....and yet the fanboys will still sing praises to them.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

If you ask most try-hards:
I hate it because I'm given armor abilities that give me a huge advantage over noobs. But I'm complaining that it helps noobs more than it helps me.
I hate it because it doesn't do enough to give me numbers that I can throw around that say I'm better than you are.

Now if you ask me:
Matchmaking
Matchmaking
Matchmaking

That is why Halo is retarded.
Matchmaking has always been retarded since the days of Halo 2.
But it's the new voting system they added to it that completely turned me off.
It's also their disconnection from what makes a good game setting.

Compare game settings from Halo 2 playlists to the current game settings they are forcing people to play today in Reach.
There is a major disconnect happening somewhere.
Think about it. Name any other FPS out there that makes you have to fight a vote for both map and gametype being played.
And no matter what you vote for, or are forced to play. The game settings are just absolute retardedness.

I quit playing this game shortly after I finally got the map/gametype of MY choice (took nearly 100 games before that)
And when I finally got it, I realized Bungie completely -blam!- it over.

So if there is ONE BIG PROBLEM infecting reach.
It's matchmaking. It's the idea that I can't play custom games and bypass matchmaking, unless I randomly add a bunch of -blam!-s that I meet inside MM to my friends list.

Reach is hated because Bungie took a chance.

Some developers play it safe; Valve doesn't risk watering down the legacy of their series' with too many sequels, while Infinity Ward/Treyarch seemed to deliver nothing more than what was expected.

Bungie fell somewhere in the middle, which from a certain perspective, was a terrible place to be.

If Halo 2 spent more time in development and was then released as the last game in the series, Halo would be Bungie's Half-Life.

On the other hand, if Bungie just made a slight tweak here and there while generally keeping everything from Halo 2 - Halo: Reach the same as it was in Halo: CE, they would have been able to avoid fracturing the community.

It didn't necessarally "infect" Glasslands, it's just Glasslands liked to throw around cannon as well. I don't know, some of the more recent additions to the Halo-verse worry me. I'd really just like to forget all about Reach, but it's left it's awful stain on the series for a while to come.

Nope. SouthPole isn't a person. He's the avatar of the force of tryhards everywhere. He stalks the web looking for retards to set straight. He can not be stopped by mere bans or thread locks for he shall rise anew.

Lol, you're really dumb. Why do you even come here?
You honestly should just move to waypoint. That's where the retards belong.

Well out of all this craziness, two things are evident.

1) Bungie and Microsoft made their millions with Reach so they don't really have anything to worry about.

2) Pride probably took a hit because Bungie definitely didn't want to go out like this on such a sour note. They thought what they were making was the pinnacle of what they've achieved for the last decade. Instead, its a game everyone will remember as the worst of the Halo series. Reach was a mixture of too much noob vomit. There's nothing wrong with being a casual gamer. But Bungie flipped the rules and let casual gameplay slip into the competitive side which screwed everything up.

I like the DMR better than the BR, and last time I played 3 I was horrified at how useless the pistol was. But I'm just a sucker for a scoped pistol. Aesthetically Reach reminds me of CE in a lot of ways.

u must suck because the halo 3 pistol was more effective than the reach pistol...if u could land ur shots..

and to answer the main thread question, its because reach sucks its the halo game closest to cod. which im sure all the hardcore gamers of halo like myself hate.

true that

Because they blow at it. Halo 3 was better, though. More fun and more competitive.

  • 02.05.2012 1:48 PM PDT

Different Halo fans like different Halo games.
Different Halo fans dislike different Halo games.

But no one is right on what is the best or worst Halo game.

Lol

The reason why I dislike Reach and Halo 3 over the first two installments is that individual skill means absolutely nothing. It doesn't matter if I have better hand-eye coordination or aiming skill because unless I have a teammate with me at all times, I'm -blam!- screwed.

  • 02.05.2012 2:29 PM PDT

chances are I don't care who you are or what you say.

because Reach is not nearly as good as the other 3, and it is so different.

IMO that makes it a turn off

"I am Scourge, Leader of BloodClan, and I have won!"

It was good as a game, but people did not like it as a halo game. People will hate anything for the stupidest reasons.
