Ok, I've posted this a looong time ago, and I've searched for it (Google...) but couldn't find it, but I did find another copy of it that I'd posted in another thread. And with all the new hoop-la (like that word, don't cha?) and rumors and theories, I'd figured I'd just post mine again to see what new speculation I get on it.

So here's my theory on the Halo Universe Storyline:

First of all, the Forerunner race is us, only from a long, long, time ago (in a galaxy far, far away). They aka we were very advanced, but then we got in a battle with another race (the "gods" sent to punish the forerunners, as they came to think after the flood). The war raged on for a long time. Then, hoping to kill us all off, the other race developed a lifeform able to take over their bodies, so that that race could take over the forerunners and use them as slaves, etc. Only thing is, their experiment went horribly wrong and the flood, as it was called, killed off their own race. Then the flood found their way to the forerunners.

The forerunners, in a last hopeful act, developed the halos, in hoping of stopping the flood. So they set it off, but left an ark (like the one in the Bible) with a few forerunners, aka humans, onboard (noah and his family). [the ark then saves those forerunners in it from the flood as the Ark in the Bible saved Noah]

So after the halos stop and everyone is wiped out, their planets are now in ruins because of the war and then also the flood. So what the remaining humans have to do is find a new planet and totally start their civilization over again, without any of their resources for building their old technologies. But, they purposely left guilty spark, the other oracles, and the sentials, so that if the population of the galaxy got too large, and it was in danger of being taken over by the flood, then the humans would be told to set the halos off again, just like they did so long before. Then the remaining humans onboard the ark would start anew. This process keeps going, and we may never know how long it has been going on for. [probably has only been done one other time: by the forerunners, b/c it was said by someone (I'm pretty sure it was Guilty Spark) that delta halo was only activate 1 other time]

But now, in our time, another war has broken out, this time with the covenant (who may even be the same race with whom we had the anchient war and who first created the flood). Guilty Spark wants MC to set it off so badly because he was programmed to do just that - tell them when it is time to start anew - and also knows the flood might take over the galaxy.

This story would explain a lot of things, such as why MC feels so familiar with the forerunner controls (in Halo 1) and also why only humans can set it off, and why guilty spark is so familiar with us humans (because he may have been through this cycle of starting all over again countless times).

Note: Things in brackets [..] are things I've just added now. I know that I had more in my original post, but again I can't find it so here's the step-down version. I included a lot more about the Covenant possibly being the race the Forerunners fought. The Covenant could've escaped and traveled far away, escaping the halo's blast (unlikely, but then again the halos I'm sure took a long while to build, giving the Cov. plenty of time to escape). And then the Cov. could've suddenly the found the Forerunner ruins and wanted to find out what happened to the Forerunners/Flood, and wondered if they could once again try and use the flood.

Hey dude, I think this a good theory and also there is now proof that the ark is what is in the trailer! Hope that helps add on to your theory. It's preety sweet!
