"At the end of this day one shall stand, one shall fall"

So, Death or Bungie?

Third person action and adventure game. Would you still buy it if it had a good story?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Also, under the hand and bolt there is something you should read..

RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

If it's fun and I enjoy playing it, I'll play any genre.

What's wrong with Third Person Action Adventure games?

  • 02.05.2012 7:08 PM PDT

1st Person RPG would be optimal.

LOL.

No.

First Person as a perspective really only works with Shooters in my honest opinion. For everything else, third person is definitely the superior of the two. It allows the player a better glimpse of the action, allows for a more dynamic gaming experience, it's just all around better. Some people will say that a First Person Perspective in something like an RPG is still valuable as it makes it feel as though you are seeing through the eyes of your character, but quite frankly that isn't worth killing the gameplay to accomplish.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

I have wanted Bungie to create a third-person for quite a while, so... yeah I would buy it.

Or, ya know, you could have the ability to switch it off and not have to worry about which of the two is better.

#Skyrim

I wouldn't mind the third person stuff at all as long as I can choose to play my preferred FPS. If it's a TPS, I will not buy :/

Even if you try to include both viewpoints, ultimately you end up designing the game around the default viewpoint, the other exists only as an option. Skyrim chose to make it's default viewpoint the first person perspective, and because of that, many doors were slammed shut when it comes to design space.

Have you ever noticed that there are no enemies in Skyrim that are designed to mob up around you and attack you from the flanks and rear? The reason that those enemies don't exist is that they would be too difficult or frustrating for the player to face without use of a motion detector. You simply can't keep them all in view at once, so it's impossible to dodge their attacks properly.

If the game was created from a third person perspective however, this wouldn't be a problem, as the player can view the surrounding enemies easily with a detached camera. Not to mention, the third person perspective offers the player a better chance at being mobile in combat, as they can easily see obstacles or cliffs that they would otherwise run into / over in first person. This in turn opens up design space for enemies who's attacks cannot be tanked, and must be dodged, which in turn leads to more exciting combat, which in turn leads to a better experience.

Do you see what I mean? First Person is just so much more limited than third person.

Hello, I'm Mr AwesomePizza. I like pizza and I'm a man. Reasoning for the name. I like to listen to the classics of music, write poetry, play video games, and much much more. I'm always down for a nice chat, so please hit me up for some conversation.

Well I haven't even seen it yet or heard what it's aboot'.
As much as I love Bungie, I don't feel like shelling out 60+ bucks on a game I know nothing aboot'.
(I know I'm saying aboot' instead of about, don't judge me.)

I don't worry about stories in video games as much as the gameplay, so as long as thats good, sure.

Although, at this point I'm fairly sure that their next game is going to be a NASCAR manager game.

  • 02.05.2012 8:41 PM PDT

lol

I'll still buy and support them no matter what.

  • 02.05.2012 8:43 PM PDT

A good game is a good game. Not because of its genre and not just because a specific company made it. If it is a good game and I enjoy it, then I will play it. Having it made by bungie is just a plus because of the community that goes along with it.

I suspect llamas are secretly wizards. I <3 poptarts n' milk. I like me. Grimick is defined as: a logical parodox, the act of funnaling a potato down your throat, and a deliciously flavored muffin (with pecons and blueberries). Norway is the Swedish word for 'moron'. My sister has cancer, so i get to use handicap parking and cut small children in line at Disneyland.

"Don't eat doughnuts on thin ice."

"The pancake, my friend, has officially been flipped."

Of course I would. Or haven't you heard? Bungie is making it!
