Subject: Is Destiny going to be a Skyrim type game?

Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own council will I keep on who is to be trained. A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.” -Yoda

Not a clone, but their successor. I personally think so,
but what are your thoughts?

RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

I'd love that, actually. Massive RPGs like Fallout and Skyrim are some of my favorite games of all time. And I think Bungie could outdo all of those games. Maybe Destiny could even be an MMORPG. Whatever genre it is, it'll be amazing.

It wouldn't be that difficult. All Bungie would need to do is have a game with even slightly good core gameplay and it instantly beats Skyrim.

But yes, it does sound like Bungie's next world will be Large and Dynamic.

There are three people I serve. God, Chuck norris, and Evilcam.

I don't know man, it would be ok with me though.

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

As long as it isn't an MMO, i'll be very happy.

I loved Skyrim, so i would definitely like to see a bungie game like that.

You guys need to stop making it so easy to link to my thread for reference: http://forums.destinypedia.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=84

Due to the information we've found about the scale of the "Destiny Map" (well, I say we, but it's really been SJ and ncsuDuncan), I think it's very likely it's going to be an ARG (maybe RPG?) in a very open world.

I would love to see a new and successful company like Bungie dabble in role-play games like Skyrim, but all this talk of them besting Bethesda on their first try seems pretty far-fetched to me.

I wouldn't be too fond of a massively multiplayer online game. Unless Bungie radically redesigned many common element to the genre.

I don't find it far fetched at all. Bethesda has chosen to intentionally water-down their core gameplay to focus on their large worlds and their many quests, Bungie need only come up with a better balance than Bethesda, and they will succeed.

You're presupposing that it's even a game.

They wouldn't pull another Bungie Aerospace on us.

...Would they?

Achronos: And what's this about a "design team" I've been hearing? Apparently stosh is so awesome he's now considered a "team".

Large and dynamic is what I like and the picture on that page somewhat resembles Borderlands to me.

This is the OP.

What are you supposing?

That would be disappointing to say the very least.

I just wanted to point out that the trademark information for it indicates "computer game software", so it seems reasonable that things like SDKs and game engines would fall into that category as well.

Understood, I just wanted someone with mental awareness to weigh in on this topic. I definitely see where you're coming from with the SDKs/game engines thing. Only time will tell, or using your invisibility cloak to get passed Jerome, which is always a blast.

I could see that. How would you explain Bungies new partnership with Activision if not to make games?

I couldn't, but I don't see how that question is relevant.

It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

I thought Bungie's agreement stated that they would make a new series. Any software they develop is irrelevant, unless they plan on making an engine for other companies to use, in which case, Activision could help them sell it to other companies.

He's pointing out that Destiny might not be the same thing as Tiger or whatever the heck they've codenamed their next game.

Bungie's most definitely making something, whether or not it will be called Destiny is a different issue altogether.

Ah, sorry dazarabbo for posting that. Hah! Thanks for clarifying Hyle.

Off to bed for me.

No matter how you critique their game, the good of it obviously outweighs any bad in such a way that they are unequaled in their genre's industry. Making a better role-play game then their's, were it so easy, would have already been done.

I don't find it far fetched at all. Bethesda has chosen to intentionally water-down their core gameplay to focus on their large worlds and their many quests, Bungie need only come up with a better balance than Bethesda, and they will succeed.

A difference of opinion I suppose. I'm not going to press the matter however as to not divert the topic.

But give it time. It will happen.
