Subject: A new look at the weapon idea (sensible idea)

Ok, we all know that the Covinant control Earth and that the majority of the UNSC and UMSC are gone. What remains of them are probably using guerilla warfare and have a lot of civilians in their ranks could the UNSC have been spread too thin and sending most of the new weapons to the front lines, leaving outdated weapons for defenses in the inner colonies? this idea would be a way for bungie to please the people begging for the return of the old weapons while not getting too unrealistic for the rest of us.
could the remaining Marines have been forced to use some oudated weapons due to a lack of ammo for the new weapons? could we possibly start missions with limited ammo reseves or even used Plasma weapons or even weapons older than Halo 1's like the M2A rifles that the Rebels had in First Strike?

Yes, this would take the realism to a huge new scale but some would argue that that would be Un-Halo-ish
i think it would be sweet and really highlight the despiration and severity of the Human resistance's condition

Discuss, Criticize, EXPLAIN your responses please

I see what your saying but why does this matter? As long as we get to kick ass in space no matter what weapon we're using I'm satisfied. I like your theory saying "What remains of them are probably using guerilla warfare and have a lot of civilians in their ranks." That should make the story line more interesting. I can picture it: a platoon consisting of Elites Grunts and maybe a pair of Hunters searching through the ruins of a lost human city for any survivors. Out of nowhere a rocket smashes into one of the Hunters, while a sniper round pierces the orange backside of the other. A group of humans with Assault Rifles tear into the small rabble of barking Grunts, while the Elites get some sniper rounds to their split chinned faces...I like it.

Eh?

Yeah I agree, but I'm more excited about hopefully getting to actually play a few levels on earth for a change. I wasnt a big fan of the fact that you only got a few earth levels in H2 so in H3 I'm hoping for some kick-ass earth action. Maybe racing through a deserted and destroyed city being occupied by the covenant. Seeing some half destroyed national landmarks would be awesome too...just to give you the sense that your actually on earth and all things have gone to hell.

<blinks>
did you pay attention in Halo 2 Class?
Elites, Grunts, and Hunters are now are friends

but anyway that is my point, having low ammo from the start of a mission would really add the feeling of despiration to the game it would allow for alot more immersion

Having low ammo can be good and bad. If you play throgh a tough level and are finally about to beat it, and you run out of ammo in a fight, you are gonna say "why did bungie make us start with such little ammo, this is stupid i'm gonna play something else." and Apocalypse took care of the plasma thing. Props for thinking of new concepts but, the game would be unstable with low ammo.

i see your point but having to scavange new weapons throughout the level would be cool, but yes some people would hate the concept

Eh?

Then some people need to learn how to aim, be stealthy, and conserve ammo. You know, like a real soldier might have to do.

I was talking about war-torn humans who were just trying to survive. They have no clue about the Arbiter teaming up with a couple of humans. When Gravemind talked about Master Chief and the Arbiter becoming brothers he did not announce it to the people of Earth. I mean think about it: Your hometown gets attacked by thousands of aliens and you and some other survivors, maybe a few marines, get besieged in some large ruined building with weapons that you can use...I think you know what we all would be doing, and thats making sure the aliens know who there messing with. Sorry, got carried away there. I was just explaining myself. Post your thoughts.

Eh?

Well...I'm not to sure how the human race would handle having their world ransacked by a hord of aliens with superior numbers and technology. We might kinda fall apart, seeing as how we are dumb and spend most of our time squablling over oil *cough*georgebush*cough*. Anyhow, if were are not doing that, then we squablle over religion, or land, or basically anything that could keep the fight going, because everyone knows that talking simply wouldnt solver the problems .......
