Subject: Has Destiny been confirmed to be a video game?

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

I am not sure if we even know that for a fact.

Nope.

We kinda just started calling it Destiny because of that one poster in the background of the Retrospective Vidoc, though I believe it originally came from that bogus Kotaku Article where some "supposed" laid off Bungie Contractor said it was the name of their next game.

The most official name we've got is Tiger at the moment.

I don't think anyone knows...

Also, I think that this is being a talked in another thread...

There's no reason to be obnoxiously inquisitive.

It's going to be a video game. Why would they work for years and years on something that isn't a video game? Why would they be hiring PS3 Developers for something that isn't a video game? Why would they be looking for a GAMEPLAY PROGRAMMER if they weren't making a video GAME?

Who else would staff the Dunk Tank?

Destiny could be an engine type deal.

I think it's way more likely that they'd go into the bagel business. Who wouldn't?

A tosser is the same as a wanker. To toss oneself off is to fondle the trouser weasel.

That guy's brother, who just happens to be the Mayor of Boston, knew some shady people who did some shady deals with some other shady people, and that started a much larger demand for a certain pharmaceutical dubbed Destiny.

Maybe they're going into the pharmaceutical business and selling bagels?

Soon Gilbert's Main Street Bagels, Big Apple Bagels, and Blazing Bagels will be burnt to the ground, their owners fired into the sun, as the Bungie Bagel empire slowly spreads across Bellevue and outwards...

Exactly! I mean, they already have Bagel fridays. I think it's pretty clear, by now, that it will slowly grow into bagel thursdays, wednesdays, tuesdays and mondays. Then, grow into bagel weekends, then there will be bagel beta testing and they will construct a catapult out of bagels...

Isn't a catchy brand name too? Bungie's Bagels.

Actually, if one were able to properly callibrate the slingshot, we could launch bagels (in copious quantities) towards the sun and have them slingshot around the Sun due to some awesome gravity-related-physics-stuff and then we could catch them on the way back.

Bungie's traditional sun-cooked bagels, fresh every time we manage to complete the ~185,800,000 mile round trip.

You'll have to rap the bagels in Fibrous Refractory Composite Insulation Tiles if you want them to withstand the heat of reentry

Destiny could be an engine type deal.
So you think that they've been working (from conception) since about 2008(ish) on a game engine, only to work several more years on a video game? At that rate they won't release anything until 2016! By that point I'll be a sophomore in college and Bungie will have faded into all but irrelevancy.

Don't -blam!- with Kerser!

Create 3d skies and landscapes required to complete any 3D environment or cinematic scenes in the game while working with the cinematic and environment disciplines

Here is just 1 of the many examples that prove that Destiny is a game. Go and read the job descriptions.

Wait, was the kotaku thing before the destiny poster?
because if kotaku called destiny before anyone heard of destiny, and then bungie used the term destiny after it, won't that confirm one thing kotaku said was true, and that possibly more things that claim could possibly be true?

Considering it doesn't even mention the name of the game, I can't see how you'd draw that conclusion.

  • 02.06.2012 4:18 AM PDT

We know Bungie is working on a game. I think it's a safe assumption that it's their next project to be released (aside from possibly some Aerospace titles).

Without an officially-released codename, people have started to refer to it as Destiny, for the reasons mentioned above. So, yes, the thing that people refer to as Destiny is a game.
