Subject: Inside Jokes of the Bnet

I was wondering how the inside jokes of bungie.net are treated when it comes to enforcement of the forum rules. I believe the rules state somewhere that posts should be in readable English, would this not render "inb4lock" and similar jokes to be against the rules? I have seen employees themselves using the joke. The "xbox.com" joke also. I think while it's understandably irritating to some, it is a fun part of Bnet banter.

So are the rules when it comes to "inside jokes" less serious or do the participants feel the full force of the Bnet law?

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

I'm pretty sure "inside jokes" are not considered a breach of the rules at all, despite how lame they are. Also, I'd think that "1337 speak" is not a big deal either, to be honest. Unless the whole page is entirely 1337 speak.

"At the end of this day one shall stand, one shall fall"

So, Death or Bungie?

How are jokes against the rules?

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

"Inside jokes" are completely tolerated. There gets to be a point where they take away from the conversation, and then become an offense to the forum rules. "inb4..." turned into one of those back in 2007, and it seems like it will again.

It's the same with any joke in real life. Telling them is funny, often hilarious, but when someone yells it every ten seconds like an eight-year-old who tells everyone one after the other, it's super-freakin'-annoying.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

It all depends on how they're used. If the certain joke is used repeatedly to spam or de-rail a thread, then I'm sure that whoever used it for that purpose would be banned.
