My B.net name is one of the best generals ever.

Since my recent return to the main forums, I have noticed that group flame wars have continued to be an issue on the flood with them occasionally spilling into threads and even whole threads being dedicated about them. The only difference now is that a new group seems to have taken the crown for "most likely to cause a argument", I am referring of course to the group called Sapphire. But let's not focus on Sapphire shall we? (I know it's a sensitive topic) but let's instead talk about the broader issue of this. When should be done about stopping this from causing issues on the mains? If people want to argue about them, let them do it on the groups, when I post on the mains I want to escape the drama of groups, not have it pop up constantly like a irritant rash and ruining a perfectly good discussion.

So, what do you think should be done to curtail all these flame wars about groups spilling over? Also feel free to explain what you guys do to deal with it when it happens.

"At the end of this day one shall stand, one shall fall"

So, Death or Bungie?

Its always been like that. People mad at Bungie. Why? Bungie wont give them Recon.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

I just ignore it, because there's nothing a normal member can do that won't make matters worse. (This is something that needs to be applied to most instances, because "forum vigilante-ism" only exacerbates issues, not solves them)

When these instances happen, the users should just be punished following normal reprimand protocol. Nothing more needs be done than that.

I think the best thing we can do is just report it. I honestly have no idea how this could be further prevented. Flaming is already against the rules.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Report it.

If you think that specific groups (and their administration/members) are encouraging disruptive behavior in the main forums, PM a moderator (or two). If it's been reported properly and sufficiently, then the moderators getting PM'ed would likely be aware of the issue. If it isn't getting reported, then we may not be attuned to the issue.

We can discuss it as a team, make some inquiries and if it is found that a group is conducting or encouraging organized disruptions of the forums/community, then the group, its management, its members will be dealt with.

But if the report is a part of an inter-group spat? The investigation may go down a path that leaves no one happy.

Basically, if a group admin sees members of their group disrupting the forums in "their name"? They should immediately distance themselves and their group from those activities and individuals.

I haven't seen group flame wars spill over into the mains for a long time now. There aren't enough groups that are alive to have any "flame wars".

Inside another dead body. It's the last place they'll look
A corpse within a corpse.
CORPSEPTION.
Win.

I'd just like to quickly point out that no 'established' member of Sapphire intentionally seeks to cause a flame war - in fact, those who instigate them are people who haven't been in Sapphire either at all or for a long time, and thus don't know/can't accept that attitudes in the group have indeed changed.

I say "established", since I can't speak for the newer members who joined in my own absence.

Citizens of Me! The cruelty of the old Pharaoh is a thing of the past. Let a whole new wave of cruelty wash over this lazy land.

Hear the word of Pharaoh. Build unto me a statue of ridiculous proportion. One billion cubits in height......that I might be remembered for all eternity!

And be quick about it!

I've rarely ever seen this happen.
