Well, i think they could be frineds. Sure, the elites and all them reffer the MC as "The Demon" becuz they got pissed when MC blew up Halo. But what the elites didnt know is that Halo was a weapon, the prophets have been tellin everyone that Halo will bring about a good change , but i think the elites and hunters can forgive MC becuz they now realize that the prophets were wrong and using them. Thats why they're prolly friends.

To quote Sergeant Johnson: "Listen, you don't like me. And I sure as hell don't like you."

They were just working together to destroy Tartarus and stop the ring from activating.

Why does everyone say that the elites are our friend there is the arbiter that is a friend to the sergeant and miranda that doesnt mean that every single elite is friendly too us. The only reason the elites were after the tautarus or however you spell it is because they were betrayed and had there honor guard taken away from them
I agree and diasagree. Elites arn't freinds, we have done too much to eachother to kiss and make up. However, that does not mean they will kill us. An alliance is likely, seeing as how All sentient life is about to go on a permanent vacation.

Think about this, either have a war with a possible ally, or put diffrences aside and save the universe. Your choice.

well, the saying has its flaws, so its "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". Whats happenes if the brutes said it. The enemy (humans) of my enemy(elites) is my friend" Thats saying that the brutes are friends with humans? thats not correct.

Nice double post, y'know, there's a little button called "edit".

Also, do you think that you would want to be friends with an alien race that glassed planets, killed millions, and took no prisoners, plus many more horrible things? If I was in that position, I wouldn't trust an Elite as far as I could throw him. I would constantly be expecting them to turn around and kill us all.

I don't see how people asume that they are our friends. They are still sworn enemies. They just are working on common ground to defeat a bigger enemy than eachother.

What do you mean "sworn enemies"? The covenant maybe but the elites are no longer part of the covenant. An alliance between the elites and the humans would be awesome though. I mean how cool would it be to be walking through Time Square and see an elite reading a newspaper.

They only glassed planets in the novels and Keyes was taken prisoner wasn't he?

As I recall, the Elites only fought humans because the prophets said that humans were "an affront to the gods." It's sorta like the propaganda used in WWII that made us hate the Germans. Now that the true nature on the Halo rings has been reveiled, and the Elites have been cast out of the Covenant, I see no reason for the humans and Elites to be enemies, especially with the rest of the Covenant bearing down on both groups.

In fact, with the afformentioned evidence, I do belive the Elites have a good chance of siding with the humans.

Elites aren't our friends, if they where, they wouldn't be the ones to take over earth, which, they will.

Maybe they are allies maybe they aren't. Remember, the elites only killed the humans because the prophets hated the humans. The prophets were also afraid of the humans (which is why they didn't ask the humans to join the covenant but they let all the other races join). The prophets probably lied to the elites about the humans so the elites would want to kill the humans. But if the prophets lied about the great journey, the elites probably believe everything else the prophets said was a lie. So if the humans aren't really as bad as they thought they were, why not ally with them. I have a few reasons why they aren't allied: The humans have no idea whats going on and they hate the elites more than any other covenant (I hate brutes more but oh well). The humans also wouldn't have a reason to make fun of the split-lip squid heads (thats just wrong to stop calling elites that). So who knows. Believe whatever. What sucks is that everyday people start posts like this and they are just wasting time. If you know that NOBODY knows, then DON'T post this stuff. Just wait for Bungie to say or just wait for the game to come out. While your waiting, try to take up a hobbie. Like sports or drums or whatever. Just wait for the knews.

no matter in the eyes of the prophet's army the arbiter and his followers r traitors so the elites still the humans ennemy

  • 05.24.2006 7:14 PM PDT

No matter if the Elites want to join with the humans, would you, as a normal civilian want to be siding with some strange alien race, who was fighting a bitter war with your race just weeks before? Normal people and most of the UNSC for that matter don't know the whole story as we do, probably ONI has only a slight outline of what is going on, remember, in stuff like a movie, or a video game, we as the audience can see mostly everything, characters in that story don't. We may see that the Prophets betrayed the Elites, and that the Elites, Hunters, and Grunts left the Covenant, but the humans in the game don't really know that.

Just put yourself in their shoes for a moment. Even if the Elites tryed to join with the Humans, I doubt that the Humans would just believe these aliens for no reason, they were warring with the Humans for years. In the Halo universe, there are few people anyone can trust.

Ever hear the saying, " The enemy of my enemy is my friend?"
Basically it means this, I will tell you an example.
Humans against covenant. Humans against flood.
Covenant against humans. Covenant agains flood.
Flood against humans. Flood agains covenant.
It is a 2 way triangle.
Humans>Flood>Covenant=Covenant>Flood>Humans.
Humans(you) fight the covenant(I will say elites), but then the flood was found. The flood kill all, you and elites. So they are the enemy. The covenant is your enemy, but they are against the flood. Therefore, the enemy of your enemy is your friend. Of course this does not work the other way around(you friends with flood).

Have you looked at this thread? The references to that phrase are too much. If that saying applied to Halo, it would mean that we would be joining with the Covenant to kill the Flood, or worse, joining with the Flood to kill the Covenant. That phrase cannot apply to Halo. It simply does not work.

  • 05.24.2006 7:42 PM PDT

No I have not looked at this thread, nor do I intend to. And I explained that when I edited it. If you were not so quick to make others fell foolish, you would have seen that.

There is still a problem. Go play Halo: CE, that is where we meet up with the Flood, there were three-way battles. Three sides, free for all. I killed both Covenant and Flood, therefore, none of them were my friend. My only friends on those levels, were the last few Marines hanging about, and me. There were no friends in those battles. With the same clip that I killed a Flood with, I killed a Jackal. There were no alliances there, at all. So again, I fail to see how that phrase works.

But that was before Halo 2 wasn't it? Also, they were still killing each other.
The covenant is in chaos, you can't say who's where. Who's to say the Arbiter isn't his own covenant and the brutes aren't in it? The Arbiter does have other elites following him...

If the Axis had won WWII, Germany and Japan would have easily turned on each other. They allied to fight a greater force than they. "The Enemy of my Enemy is my Friend." "It doesn't matter who you love in war, it is who you hate the most."

See any parallels?
