Subject: Elites Are not our Friends

Well like someone else said before. The Elites are not one mind, they have free will. Not all Elites will follow someone who, in ther eyes might be seen as a failure and a Heretic. Some Elites might still cling to the beliefs of the Covenant, there may be some who make their own little groups and run away.

And if you want, I can bring this into Halo 2 aswell. There was another level, which had me killing both Seperatist Elites, and Loyalist Covenant. and that was AFTER the Gravemind brought the Arbiter and the Master Chief together. That meeting meant nothing. I was the Master Chief going around and killing all but Marines. There were no friends there either. Some Elites may have been born and raised to believe that the Humans are worthless scum that should be wiped from the galaxy and still refuse to side with them when the Arbiter helps out Miranda and Johnson for that one moment. Who knows? Perhaps right after Tartarus died, the Marines and Elites parted and decided to keep to their own buisiness, the may have decided not to be allied with each other, but to go their own ways and deal with their own problems. Remember, the Elites in that room hated the Brutes with all of their might, they could have used all the help they could have, so that's why they used the Humans to help them acheive their goals. It's not unheard of for someone to use some force, or group to acheive their own agenda, and then leave them on their own afterwards. We don't know what the Elites are hiding, or what they are planning, and that is why I don't trust them.

And the quote is used again. Good. Support the cause(whatever it may be, as long as I like it hah).

Ah, but that was before word got around that the elites were betrayed wasn't it? Then that one general elite in silver armor came with tons of elites. However, that is your opinion.

The Elites would never be able to completely embrace a human-elite partnership. They have been tought for thousands of generations that the "Great Journey" is the path to salvation. It has been ingrained into their culture like an etching on a sheet of metal, never ment to go away. You can compare to it to what the United States is trying to do in Iraq. We're trying to change something in a few years that will take generations to change (their government which is controlled by the muslim religion). If the situation in Iraq isn't enough look at the conquest of the New World. That happened over 400 years ago and there are still traces of Native American Culture all around. I highly doubt the Elites will embrace the humans as equals and friends after the war is over. There won't be eough time to erase their belief system or their hierachal caste system. Granted the Arbiter helped/assisted Miranda and Sergent Johnson to retreive the Index but I seriously doubt he was friendly about it. Even though all he believed was a lie it is still hard to let go of something that ingrained into you. Look at soldiers for example someone who enlisted for four years and goes to war for a year or even six months lives for years with a combat mentality. They're all ways looking for ambush sights, ducking when they hear gun fire, and looking for roadside bombs. All in all I think it is highly unlikely that a human-elite partnership/friendship will come to be in the Master Cheif's lifetime.

Thank you, hellmunky.

I highly doubt that The Arbiter has the urge to join with the humans. I believe in the end, that the Covenant, Seperatist Covenant, and the Humans will all be living seperately, they are all too different to co-exist.

I rest my case.

The elites are gonna be more worried about the civil war against the prophets and brutes than the weaker marines.

I believe that the Elites, Grunts, and Hunters will side with the humans. But not all, there could be some that want to start their own army or legion. They could be known as a new seperate enemy with a similar armor to the Covenant armor to give us that old familiar feeling when we play halo 3. (Thats if this does happen...)

well think of it like this as soon as you play as the arbiter (elite) you enemy is elites too.

it dosnt work like this: Race=Faction

  • 05.24.2006 10:35 PM PDT

hey look where i live, LOL

The covenant are having a civil war between the elite's,grunt's,hunter's VS. brute's,drones, jackals and the elite formed an alliances with the humans in-order to stand a chance of defeating them and to redeem themselves
for how blind they have been the prophets great Journey.

Wait, situation resolved!

Arbiter and such are on delta halo right? The elites at earth don't know about the temporary alliance between them and humans, so they would still go for MC.

i doubt they will side, arbiter is too egotistical to side with 'filthy' humans. I watched stargate Atlantis (i know.. nerdd) it has an old race called the ancients which were humans that we derive from, maybe the forerunners are the same? in a way.

Ok I think you may be missing a vital point here.

For god knows how long, the Elites have been given hope byt he Prophets that salvation awaits them from the Halos, and that by doing the Prophets' will they will enter intot he divine beyound and have eternal happiness etc...

That lovely plane of glass keeping them from reality has just been shattered, all the elites, grutn and hunters with the Arbiter at the end of H2 know the truth about the rings now. They know the Prophets lied to them, and of course they know question everything that they have been taught by them. Amoung other things, that humanity was the enemy, and they stood in the way of their great journey.

Now what do you think the odds are that they are going towage war on us, given that they have no reason to fight us, and we are fighting the same enemy that they are. Oh, and also toss in the fact that they have been expelled formt he covienant and are considered enemies by them.

As for the Grunts and Hunters joining the Elites, well Grunts have always followed Elites and wouldn't do or be able to do otherwise, and the HUnters are practically enslaved to the covienant; to them it would be the perfect oppourtunity to turn against their ensalvers and get some revenge.

I'd say that there is a pretty high chance that the Elites are our friends, while it may not be offical or widespread yet, I assure you that besides ignorance, there is no reason why an human and an elite woudl kill eacher in battle.
