You're right. But I've at least attempted to support my argument.
Fine you want statistics from third party websites. It's silly to even have to bother but I'll placate you with actual relevant data, I hope you give up this silly argument in the face of facts now.
Link 1 - The only article and snipped needed
In the Entertainment and Devices Devision, Microsoft saw revenue rise to $4.2billion, up 15 percent, as sales of the Xbox 360 climbed, reaching 8.2 million units for the quarter, compared with 6.3 million units in the same quarter the previous year. However, the division's profit fell 21 percent, to $528 million. Microsoft citied a variety of factors for that decline in the E and D profits, including the cost of integrating Skype following the completion of that acquisition , payments made to Nokia related to Windows Phone strategic acquisition, higher Xbox Live royalty costs...
Now if you read into this and assimilate the information correctly you'll see the xbox console/Kinect sales are the reason for the huge profit. You will also notice xbox live isn't even factored in these figures which exponentially far more profit the longer subscribers stay on the service.
You'll also see this is only Q3 of 2012. They've had similar performance throughout last year as well.
You'll also see due to the division structure and statistics like this that this type of reliable source you request are in fact pointless because Microsoft roll things like Nokia/Window Phone payoff and Skype purchases into the same divisions. It's all for tax breaks and profit adjustments mate. Again just backs up my points about using plain ol'fashioned logic and your own assessment instinct to know just how profitable xbox/xbox live are.

No need to even explain this.

Microsoft has really been on a roll. Every month, along with NPD data, we hear how the Xbox 360 is the top selling console. Now, in Microsoft's just released fourth-quarter and year-end earnings, we see that Xbox 360 shipped 13.7 million units (up from 10.3 million in 2010) and operating income more than doubled for the Entertainment and Devices Division from $618 million to $1.32 billion.
Entertainment & Devices Division revenue grew 30 percent for the fourth quarter and 45 percent for the full year, due to the ongoing momentum of the console, Kinect, and Xbox Live. Xbox 360 has been the top-selling game console in the U.S. over the past twelve months, the company boasted.
Regarding full-year revenue, Microsoft stated: EDD revenue increased primarily reflecting higher Xbox 360 platform revenue. Xbox 360 platform revenue grew $2.7 billion or 48 percent, led by increased volumes of Xbox 360 consoles, sales of Kinect sensors, and higher Xbox LIVE revenue.
Looking specifically at the fourth quarter ended on June 30, Xbox 360 shipped 1.7 million units, compared to 1.5 million a year earlier. Xbox 360 platform revenue grew $293 million or 29 percent.
If you care to look here you'll see the xbox is the over-performing part of the entertainment and devices division, which just further supports my points.
Link 4 - Here you will note xbox is the dominate console for sale and has been for some time
For the 3rd quarter of 2011...8.2 million Xbox 360 sales reported by Microsoft.
Again every quarter Microsoft are reaping hardware profits, increased xbox live subscribers, increased installed player base and frankly have more money rolling in from xbox than any other division without the capital outlay, corporate payoffs and book cooking many other divisions get rolled into.
I thank you for the debate but you're flat out wrong and any further conjecture will not be entered into. Sorry OP for derailing your thread, I've tried to make other posts to contribute more on topic. I agree with OP that Destiny is for next gen, however, I also think Bungie won't ignore the current gen either.
