Subject: The Front Page

Bungie has one of my favorite front pages of a website. It's relatively simple, nice looking, and gets the job done. But lately, I've been noticing something that I don't really care for on the front page. And that thing is how the main "advert" (can't think of a better word for it), basically takes up the entire screen so you have to scroll down to see the most recent news.

With that, you have people possibly missing some news, and thinking that the front page isn't updated very often. While this isn't a huge epidemic, I think it is something that could be fixed easily.

I propose for the main "advert" to be cut down in size (length) so that everyone can see the news without scrolling down, and it allows more for more than three links under each section.

Once again, just an idea that I thought would help. I know it isn't a big problem but I think that would help out with staying updated.

Bungie.Match.com: Our Johnson knows what the ladies like.

I liked the previous version much better. Much easier to see the main news, and the Comm Chatter had many more items in it. It was much more user-friendly.

So, Death or Bungie?

I agree, I really like the webteam Bungie has. They have done a great job with the format for this site.

I was going to add this also but I felt like people wouldn't even consider that, so I just proposed an update.

2/15/12: Francisco Porras, I'll miss you. Rest in Peace.

I like it, but for some reason I don't think it(the main page) works well on Chrome; it doesn't scroll properly, or at all for that matter.

But yeah, for what bungie is doing right now... the front page is more than appropriate.

still its very clean and easy to navigate. The pictures used are gourgeous. I love the webteam.

Oh boy, so someone when to all the trouble of designing it under the assumption that there would be no news for many moons. -_-

Hmm well okay, I just felt like you would really want to show off the little news that is actually coming out. Instead of almost hiding it, like you are suggesting.

Will it change back to like it was or to a different design when you're done being dark?

I'm assuming the design is going to play a role in the announcement. A big enough box will certainly capture someone's attention.

I hope we get something like what we had around the last Bungie day. It was filled with totally awesome stuff like recent news and ebay listings.

Logic dictates that it will likely change when the BWU returns along with regular postings about the new project, announcements and other forms of Bungie shenanigans.

In fact I would wager the design for the new front page has been "waiting in the attic" for awhile now.

I'm gonna miss the jumbo news splash when (/if?) it changes back to the high density information clusterbomb it'll need to have when b.net is bursting with stuffs.

Hey OP, try this: Increasing your screen resolution. If that doesn't work, get a better computer.

I disagree. DeeJ has done quite a bit to entertain us with what he is able to work with. Having some of the News posts stand out a bit more would probably draw a few more people in. I know I for one often forget to check down there since its sort of out of sight, out mind.

Mind you, that may just be me. And also, this isn't my site to advise what should be, and shouldn't be. Just saying is all.

No. I even have an inch of free space at the bottom of the page.
