Subject: Why would removing stats affect gameplay in the slightest?

Goat was famous. Irie was infamous. Gh0st was FaMaS.

My stats in Halol 4

Typical Waypoint post.
no it's "its got to go" you wouldn't say the "it is got to go" would you?

Less camping? lol, no matter what, people are going to play how they want to, regardless of how much you whine.

Less selfish play? Get real. Everybody wants the bragging rights that's at the top of the scoreboard.

More "going for objective?" Removing stats isn't going to stop people from killing each other.

So stop crying about this stats bull-blam!-.

Hey, uh, if you like vs threads, then check out this little group right here, if you have the time. It's pretty fun, just hop right in.

"Oh no, now I can't lord it over with my 299.75.9.8/3 K/D and Sniper ToD!"

lol. Kinda true, though, what you're saying.

Welcome to the internet. Joy dies here.

Why should having stats benefit gameplay in any way? It doesn't. It's just an ego boost to keep you playing.

As for removing stats, it would be beneficial in that people would play for the game, not the numbers. And don't tell me nobody plays for the sake of padding their stats. You're not that retarded.

  • 02.06.2012 6:31 PM PDT

I agree for the most part. I think that the obsession over stats (by some people, not all) has changed how the game is played though.

I've never once cared enough about my stats to keep playing. I doubt anyone (barring the BTB colonel teams) cares enough to play for stats.

As for removing stats, it would be beneficial in that people would play for the game, not the numbers.Untrue. Take games where stats aren't tracked like Goldeneye or Counter Strike. The exact same behavior Reach has infests those games too, and they don't track anything. Fact is, people want to brag, and having a lot of kills is more impressive than having three flag grabs. And don't tell me nobody plays for the sake of padding their stats. You're not that retarded.Ad hominem? Sure thing.

I guess I was wrong. Ad hominem doesn't really make a difference here, because that's full on pants-on-head right there. That, or you've never actually played Halo. The latter of which seems more likely right now.

Bull. I've played plenty of CS and Goldeneye. Have you? There are a few crucial aspect you're overlooking. Mainly the feasibility of 'stat'-whoring in either game.

And don't tell me nobody plays for the sake of padding their stats. You're not that retarded.Ad hominem? Sure thing.

I've come to the conclusion that you're not retarded, but are in fact a conspiracy. You don't actually exist, you've never played a video game at all. You're not even posting on this forum. I'm just completely bat-blam!- crazy and I'm in a coma in a mental institution dreaming all of this right now. Because you sir ain't makin no sense.

Edit: quotes are -blam!-. No idea how to fix it. Don't care.

You'd be surprised how those little numbers motivate people.

People played to win before the fancy numbers system. They also steamrolled other players before they could know exactly how much they did it.

Stats really don't change that. Some people just find that fun.

I would not find the game as fun if there were no stats. like whats the point of going for the flag that means nothing anyway. might aswell just run around the map doing jumps and being a -blam!- instead. Because that would be more fun.

Halo: Reach is the beginning of a new age for gaming.
It proves that developers can get away with punishing their players instead of fixing their game....and yet the fanboys will still sing praises to them.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

Too right.

And if there were no stats. They'd have no reason to get angry at you for not putting forth enough effort or playing up to their standards.

But... no matter what. Without a Join-in-progress feature. In which the main roadblock to that are stat whores.

Then.. You get what you currently see Halo as today.
A game catering to try-hards who are too blind to see that they ruined the "game" and instead blame it on the casuals.

You want competitive, where numbers mean something?
Do it at actual tournaments. Don't subject the entirety of the online community to it. Especially over the internet. That kind of competitive crap belongs on a LAN.

Quit ban was created because of stat-whores
Custom Matchmaking was shafted because of stat-whores
Join-in-progress is denied to ALL because of stat-whores

BTW!!!
Lets say you did go to a tournament.
Are you going to bring replacement players with you?
In case someone is unable to play at that moment in time.
Or would you continue to play against that team a man down?

Don't lie.

Because if money was on the line and it was allowed..
I gaurantee you'd replace a lost player on your team in a heartbeat. Or go home crying how you lost because you were a man down.

Steam rolling random isn't fun. I would still be mad that MM can't put me against equal players.
But... no matter what. Without a Join-in-progress feature. In which the main roadblock to that are stat whores.
How does making quitting okay stop anything? It just makes it easier for the time until a new person shows up. Who will then quit because they joined a game that they are already losing

Right. Competitive players wanted to lose the ranked playlists and have power ups off spawn ans craptacular maps. Too dumb to even need to point out what is wrong here.

You realize there are not many of these and most are just whoever was within walking distance. No one is going to go 5 cities over just to play one local tournament and then have to wait another 10 months before something else shows up.

You need to stop embarrassing yourself like this.

It's funny how this post is made like someone already told you something about a tournament.

Would you care to tell me what could possibly come up on a Saturday afternoon in the maybe 2 hour time frame that a downie local tournament would take place in?

Oh Boo hoo. Someone lost at the tournament and wishes they could blame their teammates when it was all their fault that they lost the first game.

You're wrong.
I'm right.

You know why.

Because I know, and you know...
That the try-hards LOVE to steam-roll randoms.
You know it to be true.
You people get off on it.

What's the easiest way to give the try-hards all the randoms they can shoot at? Get rid of ranks.

Oh but wait? Eventually the randoms are going to start getting pissed about constantly playing against people of a different nature than their own and start quitting matches.

Well then we FORCE THEM TO STAY! Face our wrath or face OUR WRATH!

You think I'm contradicting myself. No
I still believe the numbers game has got to go.
And leave it in the hands of the players themselve to slowely balance a game out, by quitting out of matches they don't belong in, to make room for someone who does.

Nope. SouthPole isn't a person. He's the avatar of the force of tryhards everywhere. He stalks the web looking for retards to set straight. He can not be stopped by mere bans or thread locks for he shall rise anew.

MR EOS, I think you`re actually retarded. Get help.

Why do you come up with these theories that are so obviously untrue?

Randoms steam rolling is boring.

The ones who do it are players that know what they are doing, but don't like real competition.

It's cool that you're generalizing all of them though.

All the casuals are retards that can't figure out when the crap they are spewing through their keyboard is so utterly and completely wrong that it makes the people reading it wonder how the lived long enough to learn how to use a computer.

Oh, so because you can't get a tournament going this saturday.
Lets just make the entire online play like a tournament with all the restriction that apply.

You can't quit
You're forced to play random stuff

I'm sorry but those restriction are what I expect to see at a serious tournament.

Not the everyday, I get home from work and want to sit down and play this.

Cause time is not infinite, and I'd like to spend that time the way I see fit. Not the way the rest of the majority see's fit.

And the way I see it. The reason I'm forced to play up to tournament standards, is because of STAT WHORES!

No other game forces me to play random map/gametypes every time I try to play.
No other game forces me to stay in a room that I could care less about.

Why does this pastime feel like a job/serious business?
