When you read the trailer impressions on various sites you pretty much end up readin the same material, simply alternated in some miniscule way

Although the updated preview at IGN says something rather strange..

"It's Master Chief, adorned in Mjolnir Armor, which is either now gold or heavily coated by the golden sand and dust of Africa. His armor is damaged from fighting.

Master Chief stops walking and the camera lowers, pointing up at one of two remaining Spartan soldiers , giving you the chance to eye all of the incredible detail from the new, next-generation super soldier."

Yeah, I had read that, and honestly it makes absolutely zero sense to me. They should stop letting the crackhead intern write the articles.

Updated:

That's the article. You can find the quote in paragraph 9.

I'd have to go with the Crackhead intern theory on this one. At no point does the cameral lower to let you eye any two remaining spartans. That's why I don't read IGN. I read magazines, my favorite being EGM.

You know, I'm not sure. Honestly I think they may be referring to Nicole, the Spartan that was tucked away in DOA:4. It's an odd way of phrasing it, but I highly doubt IGN has some secret inside knowledge as to Bungie's universe. It's worth noting that they didn't even get the quote right in the previous paragraph.

Someone on another forum said (and I'm sure this has been repeated many times) "You can't spell ignorant without IGN." ;)

I think whoever wrote that should die. But its not true because when the camera pans out to show you the "object" in the earth you dont see anyone around.

Kelly is not the Spartan in DOA4. That is Nicole someone who has nothing to do with MC so your wrong.

Ooops, my mistake. I just looked it up and you're right. That could still be the Spartan they are referring to though.

Sure but think about that a handfull of journalists got a closed real-time demonstration
Where Bungie flew around and stuff, i read somewhere that they could see the ammo-counter drop in the reflections of Chief's suit to take one example

Edit: Maybe they were present and got to see something related to additional Spartans?

They probably read the books too.

We know for SURE that at least Kelly is alive, so IGN must be intrigued about Halo 3's Spartan count, since it was low in Halo 2.

Anyone take the time to think they got a different trailer then the rest. Perhaps Bungie decided to edit the trailer after the IGN showing. Honestly I can't see how someone can make that kind of mistake...

If they did, i'd fire the writer and editor...but my vote is a different trailer.

The one Spartan they're talking about is probably Master Chief, it's just a wierd way of putting it, and the other Spartan they mention is probably more speculation that there is one more Spartan left (namely Kelly).

Im pretty sure that everyone is reading this wrong."Master Chief stops walking and the camera lowers, pointing up at one of two remaining Spartan soldiers, giving you the chance to eye all of the incredible detail from the new, next-generation super soldier." I think that what their saying is that master cheif is one of two remaining spartans and they are just admiring the new detail added to him due to the power of 360's gfx capabilities.

Possible, and maybe even likely, but still just a weird phrasing in my opinion. It's kind of out of the blue, as well....there is no other mention or qualifier regarding multiple living Spartans anywhere else in the article.

Craziness.

That doesn't really explain anything does it? Where are they getting TWO Spartans from?
I have yet to read the books but isn't there more than two left??

If it doesn't matter to you, don't post in the thread. Seems simple enough.

The facts are: 1 there are more Spartans out there, and 2 the color of this one's armor is different. Neither of these details come from a secret second trailer, they're out there for anyone to know.

My guess is the writer probably is just speculating that another Spartan will make an appearance in H3, which I've heard talked about in these forums a ton anyway, and found a way to work his theory into his article. Although what he said is technically correct, you do see "one of two Spartans," I'd take that with a grain of salt... just because there is another Spartan doesn't mean she'll be appearing in this game.

  • 05.18.2006 9:40 AM PDT

It doesnt say that the trailer shows 2 spartans, it says it shows ONE of TWO remaining spartans. They've simply read the books and they're reffering to kelly... or nicole.

end of story.

IGN has a ton of typos all over their website.
