Subject: How do you tell this to your parents? Gifted comprehension

You're 13 and in the 8th grade? You're raging over very little? You're thinking of yourself as gifted?

Sounds like you're operating mainly in the limbic system, bud. LOOK IT UP!

Teenagers around your age, and up until about 24ish work a lot in the limbic system before their frontal lobes fully mature. Once you get to that point where your frontal lobe begins to mature more, you're going to be a bit better off emotionally. However, for now, I'd recommend just taking a chill pill, organizing your time a bit better, and rethinking your priorities. If you don't think much about your paperwork, make a drop box for yourself. Every time you get home, put paperwork in that drop box, and get it to your parents at the first opportunity.

If you are lacking time in the day to do stuff because people are demanding much of you, don't be around those people as often. I know you might want to help, but that doesn't mean you need to be run into the ground to do so. I know how you feel somewhat, as I'm a gifted child too, but I managed just fine. Just don't let emotions and stress get a hold of you... Even though it's going to be physiologically extremely difficult because you're still an amygdala person, but still.

Just want to put this out there, but happiness bursts inside me every time I get quoted. XD
Oh no op! Parents who care! I know what my parents have to deal with so I try not being a teenage level annoyance. Oh no, they want me to clean my room. Time to complain about -blam!- that could be over in like 5 minutes.
I'd rather have expectations from my parents rather than parents who never cared.

So I am 13 years old and in 8th grade. And I am gifted. For those who know what I am mean, I am seriously gifted to a level.

Stopped reading there.

I almost did. His arrogance and grammar indicate that he's special, but definitely not gifted.

OP, grow up a bit. They're you're parents. They're supposed to drive you. You're supposed to respect them.

I could've punched myself in the face ten times, and it still would've been a better descision than reading this.

Gifted=/=Experienced.

Yes, I do believe that experience can't be made up by being gifted. Something I often seem to trick myself with.
Seems to me like there's more to the illusion than that....

Lots of haters against me in this thread. I seriously don't know why.
So I'm 13, kill me.

Everyone's against you not because you're 13 (although I really don't know why you flaunt your age around) but because you give the semblance that you're arrogant, immature, and unable to understand what your parents have to deal with in their lives, whether that be supporting the family and you or handling troubles at work.

I know! I'm sorry, but I did post this on the blog in hopes I would learn something, WHICH I DID!

Better days are just ahead

I was a gifted student. Got tested in 3rd grade and again in 9th. It means nothing coz I ended up having a 2.3 GPA. I was one of the few failures, but they do exist. Most of the gifted kids are just normal kids in tryhard mode.

Speaking of chuckles, let's all lol at IonicPaul, who makes friends with bugs to make up for his lack of human contact.

I remember feeling injustice under my parents, even though there was no such injustice. I had and still have a good life with them. You have a right to complain, but not to an internet forum. We are not your friends. We will not understand. We will not care. I am not being mean: I am stating a fact.

In a few years you're going to feel silly for acting this way, just as I do for acting that way. For your own sake, don't post these things, man. Even if you feel that you've been done injustice by your parents, posting here just makes you a magnet for anger.

And he entered the service of the Dark Tower when it first rose again, and because of his cunning he grew ever higher in the Lord's favour; and he learned great sorcery, and knew much of the mind of Sauron; and he was more cruel than any orc.

Firstly, I'd like to say that I'm not going to try to be a dick, but I know the more I write, the more condescending my tone will seem. Secondly, you're not as gifted as you think. In eighth grade, it takes very little effort to do the work you're given. You may think that your intelligence is unrivaled, you are superior to everyone you know, and that you are infinitely more capable of most tasks, but the fact of the matter is, judging by your apparent inability to understand why your parents act as they do and your grammatically butchered "essay," you're simply, at best, a bit above average.

If you can't understand why your impossibly complicated eighth grade year isn't rivaling your parents' careers, then you obviously won't grasp what I'm trying to say, so just stop thinking about this entirely incorrectly and listen to someone who is right. A bit off topic, but read that last sentence. See how I came off as an arrogant prick? Yeah, that's how you sound, and it's slightly disgusting and seriously off-putting. Now, back to the important part: your parents. Your parents are probably stressed out; the older you get, the closer you'll be to going to college or leaving the house. That's not something most parents take lightly, it's a severe change in lifestyle. They're trying to prepare you for the real world. If you can't handle cleaning your goddamn room, a task that even a three year-old paraplegic with Down Syndrome could handle, then they feel as though they haven't done their jobs. They haven't prepared you for what they deem to be a more difficult life ahead.

If you're seriously this angry about something that's so amazingly easy to comprehend, then you definitely need to rethink this entire situation. Your parents haven't forgotten what it's like to be a teenager, they know full well what it's like. They know how easy it is. When compared with something like, say, a full-time job, being a teenager is easier than that Hawaiian girl on the corner of that boulevard four blocks away. The person who doesn't understand is you: you assume that your life is so difficult. Now, let's assume for a moment that you are, indeed, extraordinarily "gifted." If you were, then your life would be even easier than the average person's! And never have I met someone who considers their life to be so arduous. Their journey through eighth grade is beyond even what Odysseus had to suffer through. "You thought Charybdis was bad? Take a look at this two page essay I have to write!"

Honestly, you just need to learn how to put things into perspective, you need to be less of an arrogant ass, and you need to stop being such an annoying, whiny child.

Haha, kid who thinks that's any different from every other kid in Western Society.

I'm know every kid in America is like this. I just wanted to put it into words for others that can't. And being gifted means you interpret and comprehend at a higher level, not that your stupid.

How does "being gifted" relate to ANY of this?

I have read all the posts. Turns out I am a selfish, non-thankful little whiny b****. And now that I look at it, i am. The people with constructed answers told me this, and it puts me to shame. Maybe I should be a little more thankful and take advantage of what I have. Clean the room without being told. Get 'A' in classes. So yeah. I'm sorry for being a jackass. I remember being a kid with no problems like these because I did everything. You guys helped me realize that.

And you also have me in tears because you helped me realize I'm an idiot. I wish I could tell my friends this, teach them what you taught me. Turns out no one gives a crap wheather you are gifted or not, it matters if you can preform it.
I'm sorry for being an douche or whatever you called me. I'll learn.

Thank you.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.

Welcome to life. You have it easy.

This thread is now saved and I am going to consider it the best thread on the flood. Good show, sirs!

OP, welcome to Responsibilities.

You obviously finally ticked off your parents, good job, as my mom would say if I used your argument (and I HAVE), you "Don't have your priorities straight."

Though I'm 19 and you're 13, and when you say gifted, we think well endowed, or at least everyone else does, I just think Special (Ed).
