Hello,

I have been wondering whether Bungie.net will finally become independent from Windows Live after so many years of affiliation with Microsoft. I am not sure whether any Bungie employ or Achronos himself has mentioned anything about this, but with the "huge update" that will come soon enough, do you think that Bungie.net will finally be independent from Windows Live?

Considering all Bungie games use Xbox Live/Windows Live, I don't see it happening. Sure, the stats will be removed but all of the gamertags are clearly still linked to the site and the game.

Who knows.

It'd be unexpected, but not very far-fetched.

Well, EA has their own system of linking gamertags without the use of Windows Live. I predict a similar system in the near future.

Yes, there're too many numbers in my name.

The stats won't be removed, they'll just stop updating. Once there's not enough room on bungie.net, they'll probably consider removing the stats, but I'm sure it won't be a for a long time before they abolish the history of every player.

....

Fact is, the Windows Live ID works just fine, I don't see why Bungie would stop it from being their sign-in method just for symbolism sake.

The problem with Windows Live is that it has its own standards, and complications. It is both a blessing and a curse when it comes down to a widely populated website, such as Bungie.net.

Therefore, I assume that within Bungie's ambition the web team has even greater ambitions and objectives for the future of Bungie.net and its users.

I do not expect an account wipe. They can easily keep the Windows Live authentication during the "Transfer" and when you login there is a form which tells you to set your new Bungie.net credentials and informs you that your default e-mail will be used as login.

I won the Star. With this on Week 18.

They probably working out how to mix it up so the PSN stats will also be connected to Bungie.net...
