If I might do the unthinkable and make a vaguely on topic post:
I do judge people by avatars. It's a more accurate gauge than you think. You can usually judge when a member came to this site by what their avatar is.
Player models are guys who came here with Halo 3 and they probably post in the Halo 3 or Reach forums, they have been migrating slowly to the other forums since bungie went dark. I'd say, generally, they are younger users.
Halo 2 and 3 emblems are older users, they probably mostly frequent the septagon and the flood, they've been around a while, users of this era tend to just post "witty" one liners and then no more. I feel that emblems are classier than the player models, and the users of emblems are probably more sophisticated and discerning than the player model users.
Users with the other avatars are probably harder to judge, but for the most part you're judging between different types of nerds. But they tend to be here, not for Halo stats, but for actual discussion, probably they tend to post more in the Flood or Groups.
Users with Reach artwork are annoying, little kids
Users with Halo 3 artwork are annoying, slightly older kids
Users with Halo 2 artwork are cynical, elitist, older kids
Users with Halo CE artwork are adults who should know better
Users with Myth artwork are people who've never even played myth but think they look all cool and fantasy like, these are the spotty, no friends, kids
Users with bungie stuff are wannabe mods and circle-jerking septagon -blam!-s
Users with the default avatar are, until proven otherwise, alt accounts here to troll me
People with custom avatars are -blam!-s.
n.b. obviously there are some exceptions, but until proven to be not the case this is how I judge people.
