Halo 3: Collapse
Chapter 20, Revelations, is up (update 11-14-10)
The Mirratord

Ω

Some have speculated that the Covenant has a single homeworld, others that High Charity is the Covenant homeworld and they bring it along with them. I think there is no Covenant homeworld, since there are eight vastly different species in the Covenant (grunts, elites, jackals, brutes, hunters, drones, prophets, engineers if you count the books). Wouldn't it make sense that they each came from a different planet? Why would there be a Covenant homeworld? Your thoughts, please.

You know what I mean. Each species came from a different planet. Why would they just choose an unoccupied planet, congregate there, and call it the Covenant homeworld?

From what I've read in the books:

Grunts have their own planet

Hunters have their own planet

Elites and Prophets shared a planet

Engineers = ?

Brutes = ?

Drones = ?

Jackals = ?

The Grunt homeworld was referred to somewhere in The Flood (Yayap), the Prophet/Elite war has been referred to many times (put 2 and 2 together), and the Hunter homeworld was mentioned somewhere in the books. (I think the Covenant absorbed the Hunters by threatening to glass their planet.)

Well, high charity is like their HQ. Yes, each species has their own homeworld. Do the covenant have a single homeworld that is like their capital? We don't know.

My vote is many planets with the Prophet's homeworld acting like the capital. Now the battlestations like High Charity, etc are clearly main military posts, with a very large population base. But there is no way they could be considered Homeworlds.

Theres an elite/prophet (what are the prophet's race called?) world cuz they used to fight before they formed the covenant. It shows this in the bonus DVD.

edit: It showed a prophet with a spear and an elite with a blade (I think).

Yeah...each species would come from a different planet but there is most likely one large, Covenant capital world all Coruscant style. They probably have many fortress worlds as well.

Yeah,

But the elites and prophets come from the same planet so its probably the main covenant homeworld.

it talks about how if anyone enters their universe without classification they will be destroyed, even the smallest rock ! High Charity was not their homeworld, it was just a city. Trust me !

High Charity is not a "battle station" as someone previously put it. It is the Covenant Holy City as stated in the last chapter of First Strike. It works as the home palnet for the Covienant as a whole (it is their Holy City) but each race does have its own respective homeplanets.

The Covenant is made up of many different species, and each has it's own homeworld.

In terms of putting in my own two cents I think that the brutes and rones might have shared a homeworld, as they joined recently, so I thought, possibly they joined together.
