Subject: My suggestion to clean up the Flood

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Bungie just activate the Halo Array and get it over with.

At the moment, the Flood is not spreading...

But there is a way to stop the Flood, without firing the remaining Halo rings...

The rhythm of the falls, the number of dead's the rising of the horns, ahead

Flood is fine.

Agreed. Bad idea Charlie.

The flood fine, as is. It does not need to be fixed.

There is no problem with the Flood. Trolls? They wouldn't leave even if moderators carpet banned them. They can still create alts, can't they?

that is the point of the flood.

the same with 4chan, keeps all those people on that side of the new, and nowhere else, if 4chan is destroyed imagine the chaos where will they go, they will cause chaos before they find someplace to settle.

The same for the flood although at a smaller scale but bungie is a smaller scale of the internet so it will have drastic impact on bungie.net.

It did have an effect, it pissed me off when I got banned for small things.

Quick two-sentence history lesson: We have done this before. It had zero effect whatsoever.
lololol.... yeah exactly... the only effect it had was to piss off users who generally follow the rules but sometimes just got caught up posting in threads that some other guy should never have created in the first place.

This is true. I got pissed when I was banned for warning a guy not to make threads that are against the rules... it seemed like he legitimately didn't know, I was trying to inform him. Better to just let some of these things run their course I suppose.

Bad idea, as they already do this sometimes. How do I know this? I've been banned 2x because I posted in either a parody thread or "spam infested topic."

Trolls don't care if they are banned, as most of them have secondary accounts or could careless if they have to wait a week to post again. People will always post on those topics, even the ninjas themselves are guilty of posting in troll topics. Every off topic forum is a "mess" and you have to learn to let the minor stuff slide. Report the bad topics and move on. Encouraging carpet bans hurts more innocent users then it does trolls. Now, the best way to stop trolling would be to auto lock topics that have enough unique members report them. Lets say a topic is created and 50 different people report the thread. Perhaps that thread should be auto-locked pending a ninja's approval to reopen it.

Demand Fomancipation! What's that?

Fomancipation - the state of being freed from restraint, control, or power of Bungie.net moderation; the condition of being free from BNet webteam administrative care and responsibility and made sui juris; the state of being freed from the controlling influence of Ninja Moderation

Also, I still agree with OP, no matter how many Ninjas do not.

Why not nuke it?

Because it's one of the most active forums on Bungie.net.

Why not nuke it?

Because off-topic forums are a way to sustain activity on a forum like this when there isn't a hot new game on shelves. Many of us would be gone if the only public forum we had was dedicated to Halo.

It tends to be the nature of forums. They come for the site's dedicated forum but stay for the off-topic.

  • 02.08.2012 10:33 PM PDT

Generalizations.
Helping idiots hate other idiots since people have existed.

As an active Floodian, I somewhat understand Charlie. There are a lot of obvious troll threads that hit Hot Topic in >5 minutes. However, I'm not sure if that's even a problem in the first place, nor do I think that bans would solve anything.
The best solution to the "problem" would just have more active moderators around the Flood.

DeeJ is the new guy. Send him over here. It's a win-win; The Flood becomes more civil, and we get to haze the new guy >:D

My reason for my first ban was "don't forum cop." I feel you.

2 more reasons:
- The Flood is awesome.

- If you remove the Flood then users will spam other forums. Add in the Flood is probably the most active forum on this site right now and you'll anger a large percentage of forum users by removing it.

There is still time to stop the key from turning, but first it must be found.

You will search one likely spot, and I will search another.

Fate had us meet as foes, but this ring will make us brothers!

When detonated, it compresses its fusionable material to neutron-star density, boosting the thermonuclear yield a hundredfold. I am Vice Admiral Danforth Whitcomb, temporarily in command of the UNSC military base Reach. To the Covenant uglies that might be listening, you have a few seconds to pray to your damned heathen gods. You all have a nice day in hell..."

Exactly, there isn't a "Flood issue"

The majority of us flood users are perfectly well behived, and can contain the awesome power that we yeild on the forums to allow other users the free will they posess to creatively enhance theirs, and others community experience...

...and the fact that Achronos hugs a CareBear at night is completely beside the point...

whoever made up that vile accusation, clearly has issues.

That is one of the most stupidest statements I have heard. Not to be mean or anything but the flood is the foundation of trolls and people who don't follow the rules.
