While that is a lot of posts, I doubt it takes up a significant amount of server space or computing power. Back in 2007, when we were at like 20 million, Achronos said that all the forum data only took up about 2 gigs of space. The Webteam seemed to design the system well, so that only text is cached past the CSS, so there's not really that much data to process and archive.
I don't know what the game data did during Reach, but during Halo 3 Sawnose said that they processed something like 20 petabytes a month of stats and fileshares and other peripheries.
So, I'm gonna take an uneducated guess and say all the forum data only take like 10GBs at most, and the game data peaked at like 25 PBs. So while 70 million is an awesome milestone, I doubt its taxing the network at all.
-edit-
Though that we apparently saw 10,000,000 in just the last 9 months really surprises me. Bungie is dark, the game forums are crawling, this forum is about as busy as it always was, and the Flood isn't that busy either. The groups must be humming along at a pace unimaginably fast. That surprises me. So much so, that I'm doubtful as to the data itself.
