Look at the address bar. It should say something like postID=70000034 somewhere. This is the post identification number for the original post in this topic. This number can also represent normal posts (like this one) and therefor represents the number of posts altogether.

Wait, I'm confused. How do you know this?

Yes, I sort of figured that part out. But how do we know this includes private groups?

Linky. Number is '70001219' which implies groups are included.

Ah, well that part is new to me, in fact.

I've already tested out copying the post identification of group posts into the normal forum post address setup and get an error message every time, so I'm pretty sure it includes groups as well.

Now, how the hell can Bungie.net's servers hold seventy-million posts?
This may interest you.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

NERDS! jk. Fun fact.

Very interesting. The level of activity is somewhat unexpected, but reassuring at the same time. The community is still very active despite this dark period between major title releases. Good to hear!

Astronomy Picture of the Day!

I joined when the post count was at around 9 million, and I really started posting when it was around 15 million. Nothing special compared to a lot of people here, but it's crazy how fast that number is accelerating. Very impressive.

Though that we apparently saw 10,000,000 in just the last 9 months really surprises me. Bungie is dark, the game forums are crawling, this forum is about as busy as it always was, and the Flood isn't that busy either. The groups must be humming along at a pace unimaginably fast. That surprises me. So much so, that I'm doubtful as to the data itself.
I was thinking the same thing. I'd like to see these numbers. I suppose more users leads to more posts. The number of active members Bungie.net has now, even during the darkness, is probably far greater than the number it had the first few years.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

How does that make you feel? Every single one of your posts is just another statistic. A good ol proverbial piss in the big bad proverbial internet ocean, if you will...

Alternatively, you could view it as every single one of your posts being a beautiful snowflake, like evilcam.
