Some people like no Fall Damage, others think it is better that way. Well here are some things for both sides.

No Fall Damage,
Faster Pace action as people drop down from incredible hights,
Easier with the Grav/Air Lifts rather than worry about damage.
Parachute from Banshee

Fall Damage
No need for invisible walls.
Banshee (and other aircraft) is not overpowered even with the Fuelrod Cannon, no more bailing out.
If items can fall on you and kill you then the same physics should apply for you falling.

I think the maximum that a fall should take off is complete shields. It shouldn't kill you though.

Hell, if he falls off a fricken building, even with that armor, it would still hurt. Half the damage of H1 which was just stupid

I dunno man they got to do something about it though, because having just no fall damage whatsoever is crazy.

I like that idea. Just have a big fall act as an Overcharge shot. Shields gone but not dead yet.

I guess people don't like Fall Damage.

Any more explanations on how Fall Damage would be bad (besides dying more)

I was just discussing this with a friend earlier. We both agree that there should be fall damage, but you should be able to fall a good ways farther than in H1 before it shows up.

The reason why they took it out of halo2 (if i remember correctly) is there was a big problem with the sword. If your were to lunge downwards, you would die in mid air due to the sword. It should be optional, and i like the idea that it should just take down the shields.

It's always fun when you come falling out of the air and "drop kick" a sniper.

and like marine said, without fall damage the game is much more fast paced. Rather than going around to the bottem, you simply jump off and start attacking

I think they should keep it how they have it in halo 2. But, in multiplayer they should some kind of option. They could call in "classic halo" mode or something. They would have to take the swords out in that mode cause it wouldnt really work.

I think Halo 2's current system is fine, even though it's not totally realistic. It works, gameplay-wise.

It's fun to bail out of a Basheee directly over a tank and then jack it upon landing. It's also nice to jump off the top floor of a tall building and land right in the action.

But I think Halo 1's system is fine too. I don't really care what they do about this. There are other much more important things they need to get right.

It's a bit too late to bring realism into this plot....

On a fictionally theoretical level it should depend on his new armor. Because, theoretically it is possible to fall that far if the suit has that much suspension. If you've read First Strike *if I remember correctly* Fred and the other Spartans fall to Reach from mid-atmosphere and though sustained huge damage, there were survivors.

I don't think there should be any fall damage. In the books the spartans fall from an extreme height, higher than you'd ever fall from in the game, and most of them are fine enough to continue.

alot of people said that fall damage is realistic but if you think about it don't you think that in 500 or so years they would come up with something that breaks your fall if you fall from an extreme height like lets say a super suit that has shield and enhances your abilities? oh yeah its called MJOLNIR armor i think thats why bungie didnt but in fall damage.

Right.

But it gets to a certain point where they are just masses of metal falling at terminal velocity and can quite possibly die. Fall damage should work in conjunction to the height fallen. The higher the fall, the more damage. I dont like the whole idea of just dying after falling a certain distance. Unless you fall off a level, then you're effed.

Fall damage should be in and it should be like H1. The MC weighs 1 ton(2000 pounds) and 1 ton adds alot of weight and it does pull down faster so there is a big difference between 200 pounds and 2000 pounds. Besides it's not like you can't press down on the crouch at the last second to break falls.
