Microsoft isn't going to want to give up on the Halo franchise. It's just too popular and too good of a game series. Although the storyline may be finished after Halo 3, I think the Halo series will go on. The multiplayer at least.

My thoughts are that Microsoft is going to want more Halo! I think that Bungie should continue Halo with something like "Halo: Tournament 2007."

Not only could they just hone in on the multiplayer part of the game, they could improve its balance and gameplay to almost perfection. Also, I think if Bungie did this, they could create a game that would be on par with CounterStrike as far as competitive play goes.

What do you guys think?

you shouldn't have bumped this topic but it is a good idea. I agree the halo franchise is quite a money maker and that a game focusing on the most popular aspect of Halo namely the multiplayer would be quite impressive. That would open the door to alot of levels and possibly a map editor and much more multiplayer goodness. This seems like quite a good idea.

Halo 3 will be a game were you can most likely keep downloading more and more game content, personally I've always found the original games of the series the best.

Only the dead have seen the end of War...Plato

There was an article in April's Game Informer magazine which mentioned of an MMOFPS game. That doesn't sound half bad, it could be similar to Huxley but Halo.

I to wouldn't want Bungie to expand into on criteria. Halo was a good game for the story and well more over for multiplayer. I loved CE even before I tried multiplayer, it just had something that made me playing it for monthes.

That will be loss if they branch out into something new IMO.

Turn west on Broadway, and right at the second light on Welchester Road. There is a dirt path about a 1/4 mile way up, turn onto it. When you hit the interstate 56 sign pull back onto the road. From there take the road 38 miles towards Wisconsin. Get off at Exist 73 and take that street to Vermont Road, and take a left at the stop sign. Go down that street to the fifth house on the left. Go into the backyard and open the shed. There you will find my leaf blower, its yours to keep.

look on the FAQ it says that halo 3 will end the story arc

that might mean more games just different storys like maybe about the covanent.

How about a prequel with honed multiplayer, and a "less tech" weapons set?

The party line as adopted by Bungie in the Halo 3 FAQ in the main site is fairly telling:

Q

Is this the last ever Halo game?

A

It is the conclusion to this story arc.

That is to say, Halo 3 will be concluding the individual tale of the Master Chief squaring off against the Covenant in an effort to prevent the galaxy from being vanquished by the Halo stations once more, as has been the general scenario of the previous two games. However, it does not preclude further, separate adventures being set in the Halo universe.

For instance, to throw out a few random concepts, we could have a game set out in the distant past where the Prophets first discover the holy scriptures left by the Forerunners and begin the glorious crusade of the First Age of Reclaimation, with lots of satisfying battles and millenarian fervour along the way. Alternatively, we could have a tale describing someone's attempt to survive the disastrous first contact between Man and Covenant. Or another idea is how 343 Guilty Spark becomes bored with sweeping up dust in the Alpha Halo control room for centuries on end and so begins an epic seven-game saga where he utilises a secret time machine to subtly alter history across the entire galaxy so that it happens to rain marshmellows and broccoli over Leeds in 2148, encountering lots of hi-jinks, scrapes and capers with Fred Flinstone, Sir Harry Flashman, a baby Prophet of Truth and the God-Emperor of All Grunts from a parrallel universe along the way.

As you can see, they'd all Halo games, just pursuing different plots to that of the present series.

Locked. You'd think if people think they're smart enough to act like marketing experts, they'd be smart enough to read the rules before posting.
