Idk, Achronos probably does it all the time.

You should clarify this in the original post:
Posted by: Comrade Napoleon
I mean if me and you were to converse in PM's, should Achronos be able to read them.

I say no, they shouldn't. My emails aren't (well at least shouldn't) read by my ISP, why should Bungie?

I originally thought you were just asking if an employee can plainly read a private message, not all of them.

I'm sure that only administrators can read other users' private messages. Although I think all administrators are Bungie employees (I don't know this for sure and I don't know if you even have to be an employee to be an administrator); not all Bungie employees are administrators, even if they have an account on Bungie.net. And I don't think Administrators just read users' messages at will.

As long as there's a good reason for them to have such an ability, and they don't use it for non-official reason, I see no problem with it.

I would imagine that they have the ability to read them, but rarely, if ever, use it.

Кланяються мені!

If the webpage exists within the confines of the various domains of Bnet, yes not everybody, but Web Team definitely.

Yes but they do not allways relpy, you see they get almost 100 PM's everyday so that probably pisses them off a bit.
No, not like that.

This BNet isnt your email. its their website and they can do whatever they want with the data you put into it.

  • 02.10.2012 9:41 PM PDT

Of course they should be able to, it's their site.

  • 02.10.2012 9:43 PM PDT

It says right in the Terms of Use that Bungie reserves the right to view any form of communication on their website.

Answer me this, thread maker: Why should Bungie be allowed to read our Forum Posts? Don't you think that's wrong? I don't want them reading those after all!

Anybody who has access to the databases can read the PM's.

MY GOD!

*scurries off to delete all of the terrible things I write about Achronos*

But really what are you trying to hide in your PM's that is so secretive? I feel like there must be better ways to communicate very personal things other than Bungie.net PM.

Deleting them doesn't necessarily delete them forever off the servers. It is possible that the system is designed that the PM's are just flagged as "deleted" and no longer show up in your inbox.

Well the only ones that could read PM's should be the web team and the ninjas, but only when it is needed. I trust Bungie and the people it chooses for their moderation team. So yes, Bungie and Ninjas should be able to read PM's.

Yes, they can.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

I'm sure they wouldn't waste their little spare time on looking through people's PM's without a reeeally good reason to.

Oh yeah, you know he loves looking at all the group invites people never respond to, lol.

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

Do people still believe that private correspondence through places like forums, social networking sites, and email sites aren't viewable by the people who provide those services? Do people chose to be that naive or is it genuine ignorance?

  • 02.11.2012 8:43 AM PDT

Key

Yes, they can.

Get over it. If you want something to be truly private, get somebody's number and text them.

Funny thing is, that's monitored by your phone service provider too.

I'd suggest hand written letters and a carrier pigeons.

Yeah, Phone providers are legally required to log all communications for 6 months.

Bungie is much more likely to read a PM conversation than a phone provider is to read phone texts.

It isn't like this is anyone's personal email service or anything.
If you have something that you are pm'img that is so sensitive that you don't want anyone to know about, you shouldn't be sending it here.

E-mail is a totally different kind of service. And it isn't as private as you think it is (or should be).
