Subject: One of the Many Reasons Why Reach Fails

This game allows you to kill teammates.

I shouldn't have to explain this very much so I won't, but this game has a couple terrible, terrible flaws that could be completely fixed if they just took friendly fire off.

I just watched my brother play a game in which he got the sniper and went on a Frenzy to start off the game. His teammate betrays him for the sniper and shotgun, giving him no option to boot. My brother then proceeded to get betrayed FIVE TIMES IN A ROW, no option to boot. My brother retaliates and betrays a teammate with the rockets. Instant boot.

Now the trolls will try and argue that this game is flawless and say that my brother shouldn't have retaliated and that it's his fault he got booted. Maybe that specific detail is correct, but the ultimate blame for a game being completely ruined by betrayals and team killing lies on the developer for providing means for a single player to do such a thing.

Whatever man, I won't try and argue w/anybody on here, I know better than to try and talk sense into some of you people on here, but I don't have to explain the fact that there is a problem with team-killing for weapons leading to lop-sided teams when people are routinely booted out. This problem doesn't exist in games that don't allow friendly fire or games that allow people to join in mid-game.

Im that one guy you'd give sniper to with full trust of me using it.

I would explain to you why its there but from your post and attitude, I'd have the feeling you wouldn't listen to it anyways.

+1 for trying

Friendly fire should stay. We just need a better booting system. Also letting people join mid game in Halo would be a disaster.....

the sniper and shotgun

Firstly, lol shotty snipes..

Secondly, friendly fire is and has always been an element that sets Halo apart. It requires you to be careful around teammates, and adds a certain amount of caution while playing.

Welcome to the internet. Joy dies here.

lol last night I accidentally stuck my team mate as he was rushing the other team. They killed him, and my nade killed one of them - no betrayal, all win :D
(but if they turn friendly fire off, that's what people will do constantly)

I'm in love with Jesus and proud of it!

LOL at people wanting Halo to be more like CoD.

Friendly fire makes players play smart.

If it were off, then players could spam grenades into a room with teammates and enemies without any form of punishment, and the possiblities of being rewarded a kill. That would be unfair.

YOOOOOOOOO do you seriously not see how wrong you are?!?!? Friendly fire does NOT make players play smart, it makes them play exactly how they already do which is stupid as -blam!-. Players ALREADY spam grenades into a room with teammates and enemies without thinking about it, it's just teammates are killed as a consequence.

You honestly think that would be as big of a problem as team-killing and booting is right now???? You're high if you think that sticking teammates with grenades would cause just as much frustration as getting booted for those accidental grenades on a regular basis.

Hey, uh, if you like vs threads, then check out this little group right here, if you have the time. It's pretty fun, just hop right in.

Weren't you that guy who said he was leaving forever? Huh, kind of like Beirut.

But anyway, betraying is only cool in Living Dead...which had it removed.

If it was a little bit more like COD, then maybe we wouldn't be the only ones playing...

this game is dying and has been for a while, obviously there are things wrong with this game (or atleast less right than the game's competition) or else that wouldn't be the case.

And i dont even like CoD, halo's a better game. they just did some things better than Bungie did and to deny that in the way you did only shows ignorance and bias.

Who cares about population? I can go into Halo 3 and still get games with less than a thousand players online.

Solution for the population: Change Halo's name to Call of Duty Reach (Don't change the game just the name) ...... it would work

This thread again?

  • 02.11.2012 1:34 PM PDT

I agree completely. The booting system is -blam!-. I can get betrayed ten times by one guy and never get the option to boot. But when I betray them back, booted.

However, if the boot option ALWAYS came up then people would be getting constantly booted because of -blam!-s that boot you even if the betrayal was obviously an accident. Yesterday I was playing BTB Slayer on Paradiso and accidentally splattered my teammate with a Ghost. Instant boot. And it was obvious to all but the mentally impaired that it was an accident, I was boosting away from an enemy and the edge of the Ghost's "fin" hit my teammate and killed him.

Friendly fire should just be turned off. If people spam grenades, then they are bad, 'nuff said. Players grenade-spamming is better than teammates betraying you for the sniper and then tbagging your corpse while emptying the rifle into your corpse's balls.

I have my fair share of accidental betrayals, and I haven't gotten booted in ages. You have no idea how often somebody jumps in front of my sniper rifle as I take a shot. Sometimes, I just fail at no-scoping and lose a point instead of gaining one. I suppose the difference might be that I'm usually carrying my team, but I can't imagine people think about things like that that much when they get betrayed.

And actually, I've only been betrayed for a weapon a handful of times - maybe four. The trick is you stay away from BTB - seems to be a magnet for idiots.

Wait a minute - I just pulled your stats - you're not terrible. You trolling? Given the level of rage and the nature of your complaint I was expecting something in the area of a 0.80 k/d...

Edit: nvm - found it. TS DMR k/d.
