l2time manage. If you start a game 5 minutes before you have to do something/go somewhere, well, bully for you.

Even if you don't like a game, just keep playing. It's 10 minutes of your life. If you don't like it, go AFK or something for one game.

As for the 10 minutes, dude it's not much. You should be stopping every 45 minutes or so for 10 minutes before you go blind.

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

People getting punished for habitually ruining the game for up to 15 other people? How inhumain of Bungie...

lolwall. Ill deal with you in a minute

OT: Look, if you got a message giving you a warning, then you quit too many games. There's no way to hide it or lie to us. No way.

Now, to Mr. Great Chinese Wall.

If you are playing JUST for specific maps, and quitting the rest, not only are you acting immature (which last I checked, the ESRB rating for this is M for Mature), but you are being incredibly selfish, and deserve to be banned.

Period.

inb4 E0S posts and then edits again just to respond.

Halo: Reach is the beginning of a new age for gaming.
It proves that developers can get away with punishing their players instead of fixing their game....and yet the fanboys will still sing praises to them.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

So..
Because I value every minute of my time.
And I also have a preference of how I wish to spend that limited time.

I'm somehow selfish and immature?

Get a -blam!- dictionary out and look those two words up.

Let me give you an example of immature and selfish.

"You have to play what we tell you to play or don't play at all"

That is selfish.

I didn't make matchmaking force people to play random -blam!- all the time.
But people like you certainly advocate keeping it that way.

So because you enjoy and prefer a system that just tosses -blam!- at you..WE ALL HAVE TO ENJOY IT THAT WAY!

No.. -blam!- YOU.
My time is limited.
You may like that gametype/map combo...I don't
There are other people out there who prefer what I prefer.
Why am I being locked into this room with you? I'd rather spend the next 10 minutes of my life looking for THOSE PEOPLE.. Not playing with you! Or being forced to not play at all, because I didn't want to play with you.

So because I won't play with you, I can't play at all.

YOU'RE THE -blam!- SELFISH ONE!
Figure it out before it's too -blam!- late.

In other words, why does matchmaking not take a persons map/gametype preferences into account when matching them to other people?

PLaylists? What? You call that a preference?

You know what my preference was. Multi-Flag CTF on large maps.

Tell me? What playlist caters to that preference?

BTB...right?

WRONG!!!!

look at the little bit of time I spent with this game, and I want you to tell me. How many of the BTB matches on my record. are Multi-Flag CTF matches on large vehicular maps?

2 games.

I should be able to find my exact preference of gametype/map every time I go to play the game... not 1 out of 20.

Mr E0S

Bravo. I'm impressed. You typed all that up without editing.[/redacted]

You edited. Lol.

Yes, you are selfish and immature because you are putting your priorities are your wants in front of everyone else. Yes, people have their own wants as well. But, I can say that you are one of the few that actually go out of their way to ruin other peoples game experience just because you don't like the choices the game gave you.

I think most of the people here would agree with me on this. And this is why the quit ban is in place. This isn't CoD. If you want your exact needs every time, go to CoD, and quit and rejoin as much as you like.

This is Reach. You guys need to reap your rewards and your consequences.

I'm not selfish.

You see I realize that there are other people out there who like the same exact -blam!- I do.

YOU ARE NOT ONE OF THEM!

Why does matchmaking lock me into a room with you? When you are not the person I am looking for.

It's not selfish if I quit on you..it's -blam!- up. But I did not create matchmaking in it's current form. And my act of quitting is not out of selfishness. It's out of the fact that I'm looking for someone else to play with and it's not you.

Blame Bungie for making such a stupid matchmaking system that doesn't know how to replace players due to this reason. Not me.

Selfishness is trying to ban people because they don't want to play with "YOU" on "YOUR PREFERENCE" of map/gametype.

I this was a playground at school.
It's similar to the little kid who brings his ball to school.
Guess what. That's his ball, he gets to make the rules. You don't like it too -blam!- bad. It's not selfish to say hey.. It's my -blam!- ball. You want to make the rules, bring your own -blam!- ball.

Guess what. It's my x-box. my subscription, my controller, my fingers, my eyes, my brain.. my time.
I will decide how to spend it.

And in the case of the playground. I'm not going to tell you that you can't bring your own ball because you refuse to play with me and mine.

But in your case. That is exactly what you do. Either we have to play with your ball and your rules or we can't play at all.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, please note the bold statement. He seems to be turning Reach into his own version of eharmony.

What you don't seem to understand, which is not shocking at all, is that by quiting and ruining my game experience just because you don't like the map, game type, or your teammates, is selfish, and what brought about the quit ban.

Which is the topic of discussion by the way, not flaming me.

Hey, guess what.

I'd prefer a matchmaking system that knew how to delay the game to fill a missing spot.

What about you?

You still calling me selfish?

Better look in the mirror at all the people who opposed such a thing as "join-in-progress"

Because forcing me to stay in a game that is a lost cause due to the LACK OF join-in-progress is pretty selfish. Your forcing me to waste minutes of my life....for what...to play a 1v4?

Who's selfish again?

And for what...because competitive players and their -blam!- numbers game.

Join-in-progress...
Oh my... suddenly my act of quitting isn't so selfish anymore in the grand context of things is it? Because someone who would actually enjoy playing with you...has the possibility of taking my place.

You only get butthurt and call people selfish about quitting because the system has no way to remedy the problem. And when people do present that remedy to you.. You -blam!- and cry about how it'll ruin the numbers game you people care too much for.

SELFISH = NO WE DON'T WANT JOIN-IN-PROGRESS FEATURES!

Because I certainly do wish it had that feature.
But I'm forced to play 1v4 matches because "you" didn't want it.

Who's selfish?

Quit ban was one of the few good ideas on Reach.

  • 02.13.2012 5:15 PM PDT

That was 4 edits in the past 2 minutes E0S. Think before you hit submit, it usually helps.

OK, so, that's all nice and well that you're pinning the word selfish to me. But guess what? It's not your ball. It's Bungie's and 343i's. And it's their rules. And your beliefs is that of the very small minority.

And guess what. I have played CoD. And you know what? It's extremely rare that I quit out of those games too. You want to know why? Not only do I have standards,I find that bad scenarios can make me better.

Shocking I know, but I'm not the best player out there, and can always improve, and I do. By staying in games that to you seem worthless and invaluable, and turn them into situations where I can better improve, and even backpack my team.

And as far as butthurt by being called selfish is concerned, it seems that you're the only one getting worked up about it.

Yes..you're right.

I still do value every minute of my time.
And every minute that I have spent beating proper logic into your pea sized brains has actually been ....well almost worth it.

But that's only because some of you are so -blam!- thick, that I fear you'll never come to realize the truth of things. And that is my only regret of my time spent here; is that I couldn't get through to some people.

not worked up..

I'm just irked that your calling quitters selfish. When that is not the case.

Quitters are just a symptom of a greater problem.

And until you -blam!- -blam!-s look at the "GREATER PROBLEM" you will never solve the quitting issue.

  • 02.13.2012 5:34 PM PDT

I rarely quit games of CoD as well, even as a complete newbie. Even though there is no real sense of a team on that game.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

Just so you're perfectly clear on what that greater problem is:

-blam!-s that say "It'll spread the population to thin"

When presented with the solution of making more playlist to eliminate people quitting due to map/gametype

-blam!-s that say "But join-in-progress ruins the competitiveness of Halo"
When presented with the one and only true remedy to quitters

-blam!-s that say "Make it harsher"
When talking about how to improve a failed banning system that accomplishes JACK -blam!- -blam!-!

There's not that much of need to quit out on Reach, because lag is really the only reason you should quit and that has pretty much been taken care of.

  • 02.13.2012 5:38 PM PDT

It's not that big of a deal, i've had the quit ban before. You have to quit a ton of games before you get it.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

Griefers = reason to quit
Lag = reason to quit
Map = reason to quit
gametype = reason to quit

You're missing a few reason smoothmouse.

You see, you need to realize that not everyone is willing to play WHATEVER matchmaking locks them into.

Just because your willing to put up with stupid -blam!-, doesn't mean everyone else should.'

Especially when no other game besides HALO forces that kind of scenario onto people.

I mean you must have come to the conclusion that Halo as of right now, is the ONLY FPS game out there that has a quitting problem.

HELLO!?!?! figure it out.

You need to realize that map and gametype is a perfectly legitimate reason to quit from a room.
No..really YOU DO!
Because...IT IS!

if I had to proritize my search filters on a proper matchmaking service...it would go like this

Ping
# of players
Map
Gametype
Skill levels.

Who knows what the -blam!- Halo deliberates when it's matching people up other than what playlist a person selects.

Griefers = reason to quit
Play with friends, problem solved.
Lag = reason to quitGet a better connection, problem solved.
Map = reason to quitSelfish, because you are ruining the game for the rest of the people in the lobby.
gametype = reason to quitSelfish, for the same reason as before.

Map = Reason to quit.
I did not make matchmaking unable to delay the game to replace me before the game starts. So how am I selfish for quitting for that reason? Explain that to me.

Matchmaking ruined the game.. not me. Because matchmaking was the one that started the game when the lobby had spots to fill.

Why does matchmaking start a match when it's clearly uneven teams?

Explain how I am responsible for that? The only thing I'm responsible for is quitting due to the map that was chosen. But I did not tell the game to go ahead and start anyway.

Like I said. look past the immediate problem of the quitter ruining your game.... And look at the real culprit that is responsible for your ruined game.

And if you don't come up with "Bungie and their -blam!- matchmaking system" as the problem... then your a -blam!- idiot!

You're barking up the wrong tree by going after quitters.
