Well, actually it will...

Anyways. I stopped at a garage sale today and I saw a copy of Halo for $3. Problem is, it's just the disk, no box, no sleave. I contemplated buying the disk to replace the one I currently own, which is scratched to hell. My question is this:

If I bought this disk, would I be able to use this CD without having to re-install Halo? And if I did have to do a re-install, would I be able to use my old CD key?

Or is getting this 3 dollar disk even worth it? It might be in worse shape than my own.

Maybe if you would actually read the thread you'd see my questions.

all the discs all the same, all that matters is the cd key.

Yes, you can use your old cd-key and Halo will still work properly. I know this since I use an .iso file for Halo and it's the same as my actual CD.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I'd sure like that disc... mine is warped from sitting on hot equipment, so I have to use DT and an image... bleh. Which is not legal. But I do have the original here! In frisbee form!

Since we are talking on the topic of Halo cd's. My Halo disk is getting scratched itself. I have no idea how, I take the best care of it, but still it scratches a bit. Well anyways, if I were to copy the data of the disk. (Go to my computer, right click and explore the Halo Disc, and took that data and copied it.) Then burned it to a normal Cd, as a backup incase my disk becomes usless.... Is that possible? Or will I just have to purchase a new Halo disk?

Oh, it's legal all right as long as you have a valid CD-key and bought the game.

Download Alcohol 120% (off isohunt.com or something) and with the Image Making Wizard (and your CD in the drive), make a .iso file. Then you can mount it with Daemon Tools or PowerIso. Use either Alcohol or PowerIso to burn the .iso to a CD and you're good to go.

I copied my Mac CD to have a backup. It works. I used Toast to make a disc copy– I didn't just drag the files to the blank CD.

I've been using a burned copy for many months now. I wish alcohol 120% trial didn't expire before I got Battlefield 2.

I hope they're not planning on using FADE on H2PC. FADE really sucks. I have Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis. and the Resistance expansion. Both are original copies of the game, but the FADE is causing them to quit working.

FADE is probably the cause of some of the other strange crap that happens sometimes. I can't use shadows because they make huge discolored patterns on the terrain. And no, it's not my hardware, I've installed the game on two seperate rigs and I got the exact same thing.

FADE can cause problems for a legitimate owner because it eventually makes thier original copy useless. Forcing us to either buy a new copy, or use less legal methods to preserve the game we bought and paid for.

all that you need the cd for once you installed is copy protection. it just checks to see if you have the actual disc. having a failing disc wouldnt give you ingame errors as the actual game data is stored on the harddrive.

Is FADE an emulation program? Sounds like crap, use Daemon Tools (32 or 64 bit version on http://www.daemon-tools.cc) to emulate your CD's on your drive.

Oh, use Anti-Blaxx for the copy protection. It works for most games.
