I think theater mode was the best thing to happen to Halo. It's great for screenshot artists (such as myself) making montages and/or machinima. Whatever new title Bungie is working on, please keep theater mode as a feature. My life will lose meaning if it isn't included.

I play for fun and armory completion. :)

Depends what type of a game it is.

We already know it's going to be a MMO, and the title is called "Destiny."

Edit: *I thought I've seen that this was confirmed, but can't find any evidence. This is what we assume to be the title of Bungie's next project. And, rumors have been going around not sure if true. That the game will be a Massive Multiplayer Online game.*

I'm sure theater will stay in there. It is a very nice feature to have, so you could see the carnage you did in matches over and over again. As well as, share it with friends.

There are three people I serve. God, Chuck norris, and Evilcam.

Yes, even if it's a skyrim type game. I want theater.

We do? I wasn't aware it was even confirmed.

My response.

OT: I would enjoy it.

Source?

And Destiny is almost certainly a cover term or alias for the next title.

Topic: I would hope the feature sticks around, regardless of what type of game. But I don't think speculating has really any point.

I believe, regardless of the game genre, that there should be some form of playback ability. For example, in games like GTA 4, in the campaign there were many times that things occurred that I wish I could record, but did not have the ability.

It all depends on the type of game. It's great for a game like Halo, but, it'd be impractical with a game like Skyrim.

Exactly what was on my mind. I think all games should have some sort of theater mode. I was, in fact, displeased with Skyrim's lack of one.

I disagree, although there are not designated sections or chunks of gameplay like "matches" in fps multiplayer or separate levels in a campaign, with a effective way of dividing up the recording into sections for easy playback, I feel that it would be worth having.

No matter the type of game you are playing, there will always be those moments that are worth recording to save for the future, share with others, or even be used in a separate project like a montage or theatrical scene.

Theatre mode should be in every game. Period.

Perhaps the next generation of consoles should have a built in recording feature. It'd make everything a lot easier.

That is quite a good idea, for some reason I almost feel like that is not going to be the case. I so much would love for it to be though.

Wheres Meh Sniper?

Youtube page

Depending on the game I would like it. Though most games I don't see why they shouldn't have it. Makes it easier to make videos of certain parts rather then keeping whatever you're using running. Say there happens to be another theater mode I'd like an over haul, Halo's was good but I think it had the potential to be better.

To be fair, every game should have one.

I think theater mode would be great in games like Skyrim. I have an HD-PVR, but Skyrim doesn't have any cinematic features worth recording unless you have the PC version. The guy who said that in an open world game, the recording should cut up into sections, like section or the world, I agree. As for improving Theater, I think we should have nifty feature like camera tilting, better angles on 3rd-person follow cam and maybe the ability to add or remove possible filters in theater.
It's a great feature and more games should have it.

Key

We don't even know what kind of game it is... If it's piss-taking simulator (in HD) I'd be somewhat averse to slow-motion replays and picture-taking.

Depends on the game.

  • 02.12.2012 8:36 AM PDT

I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be in any game. If someone doesn't want to use it, they don't have to.

I wouldn't mind having a theater mode in Bungie's next game, but I guess the chance of it being implemented depends on what type of game it is.
