Subject: My idea for a Betrayal System

I don't really care about the current system since I don't play solo often any more and thus I don't get randoms betraying me, but just for funsies heres some ideas.

1. Each player gets three strikes. Each betrayal (no matter what weapon or circumstance) is one strike. On the third strike, the boot option will come up for whoever was betrayed.
2. No matter the situation, if you land the last shot, it counts as a betrayal. Prevents teammates that kill (without being counted as a betrayal) you when your shields and health are low from enemies.
3. Betrayals don't count towards the deaths of the betrayed, but the betrayer still loses a point for his/her team.

Well, what do you think?

Makes more sense than the system we have now I guess.

  • 02.12.2012 3:14 AM PDT

Oh, and

4. When a player is betrayed, the betrayer(or even your entire team) cannot pick up ammo or weapons that you dropped whilst you died, for fifteen seconds. The enemy team still can. This would make betraying for the sniper useless.

a real military smart enough to design these weapons would build in proximity sensors ... bingo, nade/mine does not fire on an enemy IF a team mate is in the explosion zone.

Please tell me how a REAL military mine can tell the difference between lets say an american and a taliban, to a pressure sensitive/motion sensitive device, they don't care who the motion/pressure is caused by, the army knows this and avoids approaching any such armed devices because a friendly unit will still get his -blam- blown up

Don't argue with GLO. He's a troll that always wins.

Well if GLO trolls then:
IF GLO could troll how much troll could GLO troll if GLO could troll a troll?

lol that was fun to write :P

Or we could track teamkillers down and drag them out to the streets and mug them....

No way. Such a simple system would be too easily exploited. If you KNEW you had two "free" betrayals per game, people would be betraying for power weapons all the time.

I'm a Halo Addict! Yay!

That is quite a bad idea, because on Griffball, you can't help it if you betray, cos so many people charge at you. Also, sometimes it's an accident, so it should be 3-5 strikes, cos once I threw a grenade, and my team mate ran into it, and I got booted for something that was a 1/2 chance.

If they put a little more effort into the system they could make it differentiate between intentional and unintentional betrayals based on what weapon was used.

Did you splatter a teammate with a Wraith? Good chance it wasn't intentional, vehicle betrayals happen all the time by accident. You should probably get another chance if it was your first betrayal that game and you have a pretty clean history.

Did you shoot a teammate to death with your AR (with no enemy damage on him)? There's no way in hell that was NOT intentional, he should definitely get the option to boot no matter what.

Remove friendly fire or extend number of strikes in Grifball?

3 strikes is more than enough. You are just an idiot if you 'accidentally' betray three times.

The current system sucks.I got Betrayed 6 time before it gave me the boot option.

That's just silly (besides, how would the game know if you inentionally splatter someone?). My 'three strikes' idea allows for two accidental betrayals, which is more than enough, and people still can forgive on the third and fourth etc. Simple and consistent.

I'm just writing an idea. Like I said in my OP, I play with friends most of the time so the betrayal system doesn't really affect me.

And honestly, post something that isn't tryhardy or indifferent or irrelevant.

There are three people I serve. God, Chuck norris, and Evilcam.

I agree OP.

Halo: Reach is the beginning of a new age for gaming.
It proves that developers can get away with punishing their players instead of fixing their game....and yet the fanboys will still sing praises to them.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

Problem:

All your ideas still put the decision into the hands of one person.

NO!

Majority vote required to boot people from a game.
If it doesn't revolve around the idea that more than one person should be in the decision making process. Then don't bother.

Why does reach need friendly fire?

It's necessary for objective games.
