This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Furthermore, why would a UNSC ship of the line inexplicably be carrying prototype munitions?

Ask the Pillar of Autumn when they had Rhinos at Arcadia.

Wasn't it the Spirit of Fire?

Nope.

The PoA was heavily damaged in the fight against the Destroyer in orbit over Arcadia, and happened to carry Rhinos to take out the shield. And since they weren't going anywhere, Anders got them to let them borrow a few prototypes.

any prototypes the Dawn may or may have not been carrying.

I really hope they don't go this route.

Why not, it'd be fun to see what the UNSC was cooking up before the portal collapsed.

Logic would dictate that if they had prototype weapons on board then they would have been available while on The Ark.

Who says they even haveto be prototype weapons? Just because it wasn't in Halo 3 doesn't mean there wasn't a stock on board the ship. In any case, MC will likely be using non human weaposn for most of teh game; he's going to run out of bullets.

The problem with this whole "Dawn having prototype gear." approach is it rips a massive hole in halo 3.

The UNSC used EVERYTHING available against the Covenant in those final battles. So if chief magically pulls out an awesome new gun in halo 4, I'm left asking myself, "Why didn't he use this gun on the ark? on Earth?"

Pillar of autumn had cyclopses aboard during the events of Halo and yet we didn't used them in the games.

That's why that kind of logic is flawed,as you can't have access to the entire UNSC arsenal in a game where developers purposely limit the sandbox for gameplay reasons.

Difference, the exo-skeletons were not stated as cyclops IIRC, or even the same style as the Halo Wars ones, which were set up for combat.

The ones in the PoA were used for cargo and loading only, and only mentioned once in the book, after the UNSC got the supplies they needed from the ship they left those suits. Also, a spartan in MJOLNIR cannot use a cyclops or similar exo-skeleton suit.

True,good point.

So the assault rifle appearing in ODST and not in Halo 2 would serve as a better example.

And likewise the Battle rifle showing up in halo 2 and 3, but not ODST (bar the one cutscene).

Just on another walkabout

Most likely halo3ish weaponry and maybe some experimental weaponry

  • 02.16.2012 11:56 AM PDT

There will be H3 weapons but also some new, unannounced weapons (Examples: Forerunner weapons or new UNSC weaponry). No Halo: Reach weapons for this game.

"We knew the world would not be the same.
A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita.
Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,
'Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds...'
I suppose we all thought that one way or another."

f***ing Halo Wars...

Love your friends, Die laughing.

UNSC in Halo 4 = New weapons.

  • 02.16.2012 1:40 PM PDT

All I want is my BR55 or some variant of that weapon back. God did I miss not having that in ODST and no XBR55 in Reach.

  • 02.17.2012 1:22 AM PDT

True, I guess they should have had the final BR55 in service by that point.
