WTF?! Have you even played Halo 1 & 2?
Think about it for a second and you can figure it out.
That question is so ignorant, I'm not even going to explain it.

Well, when u found keyes, he wasn't even human any more, cortana says it. "No human life signs detected, the captain.. he was one of them!?" I wouldn't say he "died" again cuz u punched him in the face and blew it up, but if u look at other floods, even if you shoot their head, the body is still able to move, so I'm guessing when the infection takes over, then the flood proly takes over the body, and no other organs matter. So it's a possibility, but aside from the sergeant being a ninja, i don't think anyone else made it off, unless the flood somehow repaired TnR, and made it off the planet, they probably are dead.

edit:
Actually now i come to think of it, the chief fled the Truth and reconciliation after he got the neural interface, he blew up the PoA, but not the TnR. some flood COULD have made it off halo...

while this is possible, the Covenant showed up very soon after Halo's destruction in the first game, when you begin first strike, the only ships are a few covenant cruisers that show up, the pelican that johnson was in, and the longsword the cheif stole away in.

That means that the flood would have had to repair the Truth & Reconcilliation after the chief left the ship in a banshee, but before the cheif detonated the Pillar of Autumn. Which doesn't leave them much time, besides the fact that the cheif decimated their forces in and around the ship.

However, the Arbiter was in command of the covenant forces on halo, so he has to have survived halo's destruction somehow...

The flood did not repair the T&R and take it off Halo. The Covenant took the ship back from the flood, and then it was boarded by the surviving humans. The ship then crashed into the surface of Halo and blew up, and not too long after that Halo was destroyed.

yeah... unless the Truth and Reconciliation was able to flee Halo when it exploded, ride all the way to Delta Halo, and then drop off the gravemind somewhere inside... no...

in the 2nd book the T&R was destroyed

Prophet of regret was also dead but he was part of Gravemind's body so there is a possibility.

We have no evidence that the Prophet is actually dead. All we know is that the Master Chief gave him a heck of a beating and the Prophet could have just passed out from the pain. That is all we know. We do not actually see him die.

Actually, you're wrong. Prophet of regret was infected, not killed.

You are talking about the Prophet of Mercy, not Regret. Mercy was the one who got infected

It's not Keyes cus he was dead, if not from you punching him, but from the explosion of Halo's destruction... Who survives that? (other than Johnsons). It would be a nice twist if it was, but it ain't.

Never give up

Captain Keyes had already died, his brains were already eaten away by then.

I was able to find this as part of an article...

Some fans have speculated that what was Keyes's personality or awareness may have already been "absorbed" by the Brain Form by the time the Master Chief killed him. This supported by Cortana finding no human life signs present in the "Keyes Flood Form". If true, Keyes may yet play some role in future Halo games or novels, perhaps fighting on the side of Gravemind and the Flood, but it remains to be confirmed...

Since Gravemind knows what the flood does ANYWHERE it may be possible that everything Keyes knew is now known.

Post what you think...

Moron...play Halo 1 again and read Halo:The Flood.
HELLO!! Captain Keyes is that Brain form in the level Keyes on the alien ship Truth and Reconciliation. the T&R CRASHED into Halo and...EXPLODED! Goodbye Cpt Keyes.

I am not saying that Gravemind is Captian Keyes!

However, since Gravemind is the controling intelligence behind the Flood he knows EVERYTHING the flood forms absorb including the Brain Forms! This means that Gravemind could have absorbed the Captain's mind through the Brain Form!

I say maybe because it was never clarified whether Gravemind is linked (mentally) to the flood on the first Halo.

If he is, then maybe. Also, this could play a vital role in Halo 3. Gravemind maybe be able to play and mess with captured humans minds. Lt. Keyes (The daughter) could be face with a harder-then-diamond decision; Help the heroes and save the humans and the Old Covenant (Elites, Grunts, and Hunters) or join her father in internal bliss(I.E. Flood).

However, this only works if the entire flood are connected the GraveMind.

I know this is all speculation and that I may be completely wrong. It is odd how there wasn't a Gravemind on the first Halo. However, there must be only one controling intelligence of the Flood. I wish I could find something that stated he actually knows everything the Flood do.

Also, this was not addressed but I feel it should be. If Keyes' mind was absorbed, Gravemind may still not know the location of Earth because of Keyes' attempt to "hide" it from the infection form that had commendeared his body (and mind).

"It is also unknown how he manages to communicate with the other Flood"

In the H:CE level "Keyes", there is a special squad of Covies trying to get into the Truth and Reconcilliation to nutrialize the flood. At the end of the Level, there is a Covie stronghold guarding some banshees which you have to hi-jack to end the level. I guess those Covies could have nutrialized the flood on the ship, got it functional and escaped the destruction of Halo. For all we know, the Arbiter was in there somewhere... Who knows? Maybe, but I think most likely not.

This did not happen. The events that happened aboard the Truth and Reconciliation were detailed in the Halo Novel: The flood. In short, it was blown up. No chance what so-ever of Keyes’s body or any marines escaped.

Dranei,
Actually the Flood reanimates the body cells to a higher function, meaning bringing dead cells to back to life.
It is proven a parasite can bring dead cells back to life. I am a student of advanced honors of Biology, so I have studied material like this. Besides, 2401 Penitent Tangent has the control to teleport to other installations. Cpt. Keyes a.k.a Gravemind snatched the monitor and teleported to installation 05. Another fact, when Gravemind says, " I am a monument to all of your sins." Cpt. Keyes was infected with the flood and mutated to a brain form of the flood. From your destruction of installation 04, the flood has collected corpses to Cpt. Keyes to make him more of the Gravemind form he is now. Gravemind was once a brain form and strengthened from the corpses which the flood brought. Basically, Gravemind is made out of thousands of dead people.

I think that Gravemind is using captain keyes body as a vessel.
It is possible that Captain Keyes would have become a “Gravemind type” flood but he was killed (maybe) by the MC then the cruiser (probably the Truth and Reconciliation) was destroyed when Installation 04 was destroyed, because the cruiser was near the surface. Wow, that is a long sentence now I have to catch my breath.

"My dreams of empire for my frozen queen will come to pass."

mc killed keys, halo was destroyed, regret fell in the lake when the temple was destroyed,
no frck'n way thet could be keys

More people that havent read the books making funny threads and comments...yay!

Who do you think was sifting threw Keys memories durring his last hours/days? it was "The other." remember???

Caugh caugh, The other being Gravemind...maybe?!

So unless Keys was wipping out his own memory in a twisted tail of self destruction, those of you who say anything other then "No" in this vote are acting kinda silly no?

  • 05.19.2006 9:52 PM PDT

Truth and Reconcilliation was damaged too badly to have got of the ring.
so unless the flood killed of the covernant in the area, repaired the ship and flew off the ring all in under a couple of hours how could it be?
