It's only worthless to those who can't use them. It can beat any non-power weapon on an even playing ground if used properly. Though it's extremely difficult to use properly.

Are you trying to imply the AR requires skill?

Wow Reach forum, you never cease to amaze me.

Yes, it does take skill. The DMR is very lenient on it's timing. You can easily spam and win against an experienced player.

Not so with the AR. If someone is able to consistently fire with 2-shot bursts at a rapid pace without letting the reticule expand, he will beat every other AR user 100% of the time. Even if he were pitted against an equally skilled oponent ith the DMR, the AR would still win every time, given that the DMR user doesn't get lucky with spam and that they're both a reasonable distance from eachother.

Also, the auto-aim might help, but it'll still miss some precious shots if not fired exactly in the little + on it's reticule. The auto-aim only helps slightly but it doesn't help if you want to beat DMR users or more skilled AR user, as you 'll be needing those missed shots.

Not that there's someone who's actually consistently that good with the AR, but theoretically, it's possible.

Dumb why exactly? I've been conducting tests on this and theoretically it's possible. I've already established that that is extremely difficult to do this, however. I doubt you've done any research on this save from your experiences against people who can't use the AR at all.

Just because it can be used as a noob weapon doesn't mean that it is one.

***KEEP IT CLEAN***

Feedest Ye Notte Yon Trolles

If you think it's there is no point to the AR then simply don't use it. Why create a thread instead?

I've found with every weapon in this game every player who doesn't understand bloom (I would bring in COD players who transferred midway through the series or just the under-aged who have irresponsible parents) would just simply run at you and hold down the trigger (or keep pressing with the DMR).
The real skilled would side step during a AR-AR standoff and press and release the trigger maybe 2-3 times.

If you want a weapon that can take down shields I would suggest the Plasma Rifle or Spyker? They both have the same shield-shredding quality and the Spyker has a more powerful melee because of the blades (If you remember the Brute shot in Halo 3?).

But don't say a weapon is pointless just because you don't know how to use it. Every weapon has been designed to have balance among all the weapons.

Typical Waypoint post.
no it's "its got to go" you wouldn't say the "it is got to go" would you?

I'm loling at this thread.

The point isn't that the AR takes no skill to use. Compared to every other weapon in the sandbox, (barring the needler) it's needed skill is minuscule.

Consequently, the AR's effectiveness in every other situation is as minuscule as it's skill ceiling, and thus the more "MLG pr0" players laugh at the AR as a weapon.

Have you read anything I wrote? Please refer to my earlier posts. These aren't opinions, but facts. I tested all of them.

Also, I'm obviously talking about vanilla reach.

It seems the people who use it are the ones who can't shoot people in the head with a precision weapon, and often is used only after exhausting grenades.

All I needed to see was an AR lose to a DMR at melee range full auto to say that you're wrong.

The AR is better at mid range than it is at close range.

It's very simple. At close range you can fire the DMR very fast. You're trading in firing rate for accuracy. The AR, when burst fired, fires at a constant pace no matter where your opponent is. The accuracy also stays the same.

This means that at mid range, the AR can continue to fire as fast as it's always doing, while the DMR has to slow down. If the DMR doesn't slow down, it will almost guaranteed miss at least one shot. Given that the AR user doesn't miss and fires as fast and as accurate as it can, the AR will beat the DMR.

~ Videogames are my favorite videogames ~

A jack of all trades weapon, decent but not the best at what it does in closer ranges. Just like the magnum is for distance.

Good enough to hold your own against others, but you're meant to swap them to gain that precious advantage over others.

Of course same hate this and would rather skip straight to the chase with something stronger right out of spawn.
