You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

I think the mods do a great job. Especially GJJ. He is teh roxxorz!!111! He is pretty lenient on locking threads and as he said he makes himself available. You just can't find that in a man these days.(Ladies like that) GJJ is my new idol. If I could amass as much gaming knowledge as that man I would be in heaven. Well I had better stop kissing Jim's ass before he has to get a towel and dry it off.

I think all the "active" moderators do a great job. If anything most aren't strict enough.

GJJ is a great mod especially for diving head first into the Halo 3 forum.
Ninja 0n Fire runs a very tight ship in Optimatch, I commend him for it.
Shishka...he's Shishka, cold hearted when it comes to stupidity, I like that too.
Recon is a Mod with a Marathon avatar, thats + points in my book.
TGP and Anton are both great mods that do their job well.

My only "beef" is this. When Halo 3 is shipped, the forums are going to boom again, much like when Halo 2 was relased. I think more mods are going to be needed to help cover the additional users.

So all in all, replace, none, acquire a couple more in the near future.

The moderators are ok. I do agree with others that Shishka goes to far sometimes. I'm sure he couldn't care less about that comment coming from anyone. Which is one of his problems. Being a forum moderator on other sites has made me appreciate that the job is quite difficult at times. It's hard to suppress ones emotions when a level of responsibility is bestowed upon you.

I've actually got to know two of the moderators here on a more personal level and they are top guys. The nice and respectful ones outweigh some of the less.

I would vote for replacement, but only if we got 20 disembodied souls to replace them with. Random blacklistings are like punishing your child not because they did something wrong, but because you know they will. Banning 9 out of 10 people at random might make the Halo 3 forum look coherent and calm.

I put "just right." And I think all the mods are doing great.

But I'm confused as to why so few people have mod permissions. I realize this isn't Wikipedia. But still 15 mods out of 850,000 users. You literally have a better chance of winning the MVP of the 2007 Superbowl than being named a Bungie.net before Halo 3 comes out.

I like those odds.

I haven't seen any problems with them, they all seem to do there job with a little wise crack here and there. All of them have treated me with courtesy when I have come in contact with them, so I think they are just right.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

In general i'd say they're a great bunch of guys and cyborgs who work hard and usually have a cheery and somewhat eccentric disposition.

Check the create times. I locked yours because it was a duplicate. Nothing more, and nothing personal.

And trust me, count your lucky stars it's me doing the gunning on the Halo 3 forum at the moment. Most of the moderators aren't nearly as tolerant as I am. At the most I'll give you a week off for flaming or spamming excessively. If by chance I give a perma-ban, it's usually for posting a disgusting link, or being racist, or flaming to the point of being offensive. They aren't given out lightly.

I don't petition to have bans extended when I get super-flamey PMs, although it's something I could do easily. I don't ban for minor infractions, if I did, the Halo 3 forum would have 15 users.

What I do do, is let people vent at me in PM's, make my Messengers and emails public so people can contact me in an emergency, more specifically I worked with the other moderators to make some threads for use in that forum that could be repositories of all the ideas people had - so that if by some freak chance Bungie did decide to look at them they wouldn't have to chase down 4000 repeat topics and posts that have sunk to oblivion. So I kinda chuckle to myself when people call me a hard-ass in the Halo 3 forum, considering I'm doing what I can to make the forum enjoyable. I know this thread has an intention of making the moderators look bad, but seriously, look at it a bit closer. We're doing what we can, and the little bit of thanks we do get from time to time is heavily offset by the ungrateful whinings of people that simply do not want to follow the guidelines and rules for using the site.

Sorry, I ain't gonna sympathize with you.

I seriously dissagree with that user. GameJunkieJim makes a good job. And I know he examines posts thoroughly before taking any action. I seriously think that your intentions are just bad ones for the only reasons that he may have locked a post of yours for being a duplicate. Next time, think twice before doing a post or it may get locked and you may get mad at any moderator doing his job. I may suggest you looking for atleast the first 5 pages before doing a post because as you may know, many people here think alike and you may not be an exception.
Í am grateful of having such a good moderators here in the forums.

Gamejunkiejim needs to replaced. I have somewhat of a personall Vendetta against some of his stupidity.

And what are these cases? Are you angry because he blacklisted you or locked one of your threads? Did he lock a thread you were really interested in?

The mods are chosen for a reason. They aren't picked randomly. They are the cream of the crop, so to speak.

He locked one of mine that had a valid point and several i have seen that do not deserve to be locked.

I posted something about the function of the ark, and what do ya know 30 minutes later exact same theory gets posted. It never got locked. Anyway i think he slacks of some times.

Let me explain better.

If the ninjas were spartans, and the members were thousands of grunts. then You would always hear a spartan say when fighting thousands of grunts "Piss Poor odds for the little guys."

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

If all the mods could be more like the Disembodied Soul Id be happy haha.

Nah they do alright.

Somtimes I cry myself to sleep when Shishka tears me apart without even trying.

Actually I think his job is art... drawing the concepts.

Moderating is just a side "objective".

congrats, you just got a one way ticket to bungie hell

anyway, i like all of them. If they werent strict, these forums would be in total chaos. I think they are doing a great job, ESPECIALLY GJJ and the others who moderate the halo 3 forum because they got the worst job. I like em all.

shishka is strict, but he is still a great moderator/bungie guy. I mean, you cant be lenient when moderating the halo 3 forum, you wouldnt last a second

kudos shishka and other bungie.net moderators and forum ninjas

Most of them are just right most of the time. The ones I have had issues with in the past were probably just ragging out due to the explosion of stupidity in the Halo 3 forum and were lashing out at everyone.

I'm well aware of the fact that I'm a member of a group that happens to be despised by most of the moderators. I see members of this group get blacklisted on a regular basis. I also know that they are not innocent victims but are usually asking for trouble. Most of them are just fun-loving guys who like to crack an off-topic joke and are well aware of the consequences. A couple of them are the kind of people who really make moderators necessary though. Personally I'm not impressed with their behavoir either.

I don't hate any moderators and think that they are doing their jobs just fine.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

The ninjas are doing a great job, in my opinion. What is it with people not liking GJJ? I have been in a few threads that wouldn't have stood a chance without his work. Anyone remember the Narcogen thread? Not to mention what he has done in the Halo 3 forum.

Props to all the mods for keeping that forum ledgible, by the way.

It's easier and smarter just to be incredibly conservative to whom you give access rather than being liberal because a screw-up in giving access can lead to a much bigger mess than not having enough moderators. A pissed off and spiteful mod can do much more (potentially irreversible) damage than a few regular jerks running around trolling.

From what I've seen, the mods keep up pretty well with the forum, especially during the day when we're all checking out the forums periodically.

Hehe, it's KP.

Personally I think any more than the 16 mods that are on now would be overdoing it. There's rarely a time where the forums are unmoderated, and with the help of regular members, the spam goes. Even now, sometimes we conflict with eachother and butt heads (say, two people moving the same thread at the same time, creating twice the amount of "Moved" notices. Or, more than one moderator warning someone over the PM system at one time).

It happened more often when we first came in, but still. Even for a forum this size, sometimes I think 16 is pushing it (not that they all moderate often. In reality I only see about 7 of us post regularly).

There's also something about spreading power too thin...I just have no idea what that something is.

Let's just say that I would prefer having a few very trustworthy people controlling my fate on this forum than a hundred people who are ready to go off the deep end...
