Subject: I Need An Honest Answer From A Bungie Employee.

Spread the love...

Okay, what would happen if I walked into Bungie Studios? Now, I live very close to Bungie Studios, so this is possible.

The answer I'm looking for would ideally answer these questions as well:

How would I be treated?
Would I be given a tour?
Could I purchase souvenirs?
Could some pictures/autographs?
How long could I stay there?
Could I get hugs?
Could I perhaps have lunch with some employees?

And that's pretty much it. And if an employee wants to reply by private message, that's fine too. But being realistic there's a 99% that no employee will reply at all. But answer's always "no" if you don't ask, so here I am.

And if some members could answer any of those questions semi-correctly, you're welcome to answer them.

Thank you.

How would I be treated?

More than likely, if you don't have an invitation in advanced you won't be able to get in. I believe Jerome will come out and stop you.

Would I be given a tour?

Possibly, if a employee happened to walk out or was in the lobby, that knew you from somewhere, you may be given a tour. (If they're allowed, at that time.)

Could I purchase souvenirs?

I'm sure they have something you could take, possible a vending machine or something. You could get it signed by different employees.

Could some pictures/autographs?

I'm sure some employees that a walking around the studio wouldn't mind to sign something.

How long could I stay there?

Probably, only 30 minutes - 1 hour. (For the tour and any questions you may have.) I don't think you would be able to stay there more than 1 hour.

Could I get hugs?

Um, hugs? I guess.

Note: I'm not an employee for Bungie.

Jerome wouldn't like that very much...

I'm pretty sure the doors are locked and you need a keycard or something like it to get in. And if you do manage to get inside their lobby, you're most likely going to get escorted out by security.

The only way I see you having a shot of getting anything like a tour would be to call ahead and ask for one and also be a well known member of the gaming industry.

Sure Bungie loves their fans, but they're not going to go out of their way to give every single one the celebrity treatment when they're working on putting out an awesome game for you to play.

  • 02.14.2012 7:59 PM PDT

You might get into the lobby if you're lucky.
No they do not do tours.
No there are no 'souvenirs.'
No autographs, and I'm doubtful security would let you stay long enough for pictures.
You could stay for a minute or two if you got in.
No.
No.

Well I think I answered them all pretty well.

@Helveck

Just an Average Joe...

While I am no Bungie Employee, my years of time spent wandering aimlessly throughout this site have resulted in me being gifted with zero wisdom and or knowledge in regards to anything. But if I were to take a guess at your series of questions, I would have to respond to them with the following...

How would I be treated?
Terribly. They hate their fans, and especially don't like you.

Would I be given a tour?
Yes. To their dark damp and cold basement. Where they would tie you up with the Ninja's that are bolted to their Computers. Except you would not have a bucket to do #1 or #2 in. And you wouldn't have a computer to ban people with.

Could I purchase souvenirs?
Your eyes MAY be gouged out (I don't have a citation for this one) you know, for secrecy purposes, but they would be returned to you as a keepsake at the end of your eternal stay

Could some pictures/autographs?
No pictures, but I hear Urk loves to sign feet. Weird. I know.

How long could I stay there?
Either forever, or never. Depends on how lucky you are.

Could I get hugs?
Bone crushing ones from Jerome? Hell yes.

Could I perhaps have lunch with some employees?
Yes, while they ate lunch you would most likely be given the opportunity to consume the Juice from Ling-Lings jar.

Hopefully this helps.

Why not just send one of them a message?

Bungie Employees like to keep their lips sealed on some subjects, some members might have very illuminating information on the subject, a topic can answer a question for those who currently or in the future seek it, and it encourages discussion in the community.

  • 02.14.2012 8:25 PM PDT

How would I be treated? -Jerome wouldn't let you in.

Would I be given a tour? -Probably not, and If so only of the lobby. Then you'd get kicked out by your tour guide.

Could I purchase souvenirs? -No.

Could some pictures/autographs? -Maybe, if they're is anyone there nice enough. Wear Bungie Merch.

How long could I stay there? -Not long, if at all.

Could I get hugs? -If you don't smell.

Could I perhaps have lunch with some employees? -I don't see this as a possibility.
*My answers are not final, nor credible. Mere speculation from a fan.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

<--- Also not an employee

It's important to remember that Bungie's HQ is an office. It's a really nice office converted from a movie theater, but it's still an office. It's not a tourist destination and, with an unannounced project, security is high.

From past posts by Bungie employees and community members who have done this before, the chances are low that you would be able to get into the lobby unannounced and uninvited. The chances of a tour are zero. Bungie does not sell merchandise from its offices.

That said, it would be dishonest to not mention that a FEW times, Bungie fans have been lucky enough to run into someone friendly enough to answer questions and snap photos outside the studio, and on occasion have even been invited into the lobby (never into the studios). All the same, I would never show up at Bungie unannounced/uninvited, and I think a lot of people here wouldn't. And here's why:

These kinds of posts happen pretty frequently here, and in these threads, someone always mentions what I think is good advice: try to put yourself in their shoes. Remember that Bungie is a place where regular dudes go to work. You wouldn't want people hanging around outside your office and taking your picture, asking for "office tours," asking questions about the next game, and trying to peek into the building when you open the door. It's uncomfortable and weird for them, and as a Bungie fan, you shouldn't want to put them in that situation.

If you live close, then you live close enough to attend events like PAX, where Bungie employees can, if they choose, come out and talk to fans in an atmosphere where they already know to expect fans, questions, and photo opportunities. It's much more comfortable for you and for them, and sometimes, fans who attend these events even end up getting invited by Bungie to special receptions or events held at Bungie's HQ. That's the better way to go about things, IMO.
