<--- Also not an employee
It's important to remember that Bungie's HQ is an office. It's a really nice office converted from a movie theater, but it's still an office. It's not a tourist destination and, with an unannounced project, security is high.
From past posts by Bungie employees and community members who have done this before, the chances are low that you would be able to get into the lobby unannounced and uninvited. The chances of a tour are zero. Bungie does not sell merchandise from its offices.
That said, it would be dishonest to not mention that a FEW times, Bungie fans have been lucky enough to run into someone friendly enough to answer questions and snap photos outside the studio, and on occasion have even been invited into the lobby (never into the studios). All the same, I would never show up at Bungie unannounced/uninvited, and I think a lot of people here wouldn't. And here's why:
These kinds of posts happen pretty frequently here, and in these threads, someone always mentions what I think is good advice: try to put yourself in their shoes. Remember that Bungie is a place where regular dudes go to work. You wouldn't want people hanging around outside your office and taking your picture, asking for "office tours," asking questions about the next game, and trying to peek into the building when you open the door. It's uncomfortable and weird for them, and as a Bungie fan, you shouldn't want to put them in that situation.
If you live close, then you live close enough to attend events like PAX, where Bungie employees can, if they choose, come out and talk to fans in an atmosphere where they already know to expect fans, questions, and photo opportunities. It's much more comfortable for you and for them, and sometimes, fans who attend these events even end up getting invited by Bungie to special receptions or events held at Bungie's HQ. That's the better way to go about things, IMO.
