Has anyone seen this movie yet? I have always had an interest in this sort of japanese anime, the serious and realistic ones I mean. Ghost in the shell was an awsome movie, the animation was stunning. I dont care much for the sort of wierd child like ones were they have funny hair and voices, with big eyes and oversized mouths.

Akira was also a brilliant example of how realistic anime could get, it was the first one I saw as a kid while my family watched romper stomper in another room, because it was "too violent" for me. Little did they know there was enough blood an gore in akira to fill ten skinhead themed movies. Anyway, if anyone has seen it, how does it stack up to its prequel?

No story or plot spoliers please, I plan to see it, just tell me what you thought.

I've seen the first one and the first four episodes of "Stand Alone Complex" so it's a movie that I will not miss!

I only wish it was playing near me. >_<

I love GITS even though it's not exactly faithful to the manga. I suspect that I will love Innocence because it's supposedly very intellectually challenging as well as drop dead gorgeous.

I've heard people who have little tolerance for lengthy philosophical diatribes found it incredibley boring, which I don't doubt. I personally can't wait to see it.
