*sigh* I guess I will have to get this train wreck back on the tracks..

The Guardian stood inside the helm of the Tempest and watched.

He knew that higher powers had been at work here. "fools. The hologram was enough to trick them!" he flicked his wrist, throwing the micro disk, which he had stolen from the Asteroid City, into the command drive. The disk locked into place, and the other three remaining slots glowed red.

"so close.. to destiny.."

Lillith did not hear any sounds of war... She knew they were there, what were they planning. Using a building as covered she ran towards Martin's base camp...

The mask figure sensed something evil, the presence of evil came from July... But it was not July... It was one of the twins...

The Guardian was now prepared to begin the search for the other three data disks.
However, something worried him. he detected an organic heat source aboard his ship.

He activated the voice-com, so all of his droids could be ready.
"Command droids, seal off sectors 6, 7, and 8. Combat Droids in those sectors, prepare for combat. A squad of Infiltrators are on the way, supported by a battalion of centurion."

He wondered how the human had gotten aboard..

Dunne entered the tent after Lillith, saying "Hey, what's going on here? First a guardian attacks, then Dwayne is causing trouble. Who are they?" Dunne turned to Pat and said, "I see you're awake Pat. I'm Lt Dunne, one of Blake's friends."

The Guardian raises his shield, and draws his beam sword, the nine foot electric blade flickering to life.

"I am Chronus, The Last Guardian. Who are you?" He says, attempting to sound human.

"Um, no. I used to work with Blake on the Arcangel3. When it crashed, I managed to escape but couldn't find Blake after that," Dunne said. He couldn't expose his merc identity to them, especially Pat, or it will be alot harder to get them to come to New Haven. "Do you perhaps know where Blake is?"

Onboard the Tempest, Chronus awaited the figure's answer. He turned, and stepped onto the command deck, a massive transparent bubble, poised over the abyss..

"this is the Tempest. As you have seen, it has remarkable illusionary tactics. It can not only create holographic distortions, but also has the ability to cloak, rendering it invisible."

He stood at the command deck, and from behind him, came an answer. "who are you." it was the figure, more demanding than questioning.

"We are the Centurion: the last remnant of a long-gone era of peace."

He faltered, then turned, and spoke again.

"We were once the security force aboard this ship. When the First War broke out, we headed the strike team that would 'defeat' the enemy. Little did we realize, the humans thought we would betray them and take over the ship. They tried to shut us down, and we did what we had to do to survive. for four hundred years, the survivors hounded us, their mental chips being the only device capable of completely over-riding our controls on the ship."

He walked to the gargantuan display panel and activated it, showing mug shots of several people.

"There were three original survivors; Capt. Jack Sephor, the Ship captain. He was killed escaping the gravity of the black hole we were trapped in. Next, there was Lt. Frank Dratar. He managed to escape the black hole, but we managed to hunt him down, before we became trapped inside our hellish prison.

This time, the Display screen stopped on a familiar face.

"And last, Admiral Ivan Vanlanov. He was once the commander of the entire Provincial Fleet, until we drove him to madness. He was killed in an attempt to destroy our vessel, less than a month ago. With his death, we were able to activate the engines and begin our mission of conquest."

"now, we will end the wars, once and for all."

To Righteous Reaper and anyone else who may have been offended by my actions as a breach of conduct:

My sincerest apologies for your loss, however, I did not leave you without a way out. You must understand, that is how my character works. He is called to restore balance to the universe, in his various incarnations, and he does not fight for any faction, save that of his masters, the Jjarro, who gave him his task in the beginning.

My assault upon your forces left the Tempest's hull ravaged and split in half, but not unsalvageable. If you were attentive enough, you would consider that these remaining fragments are still hefty pieces of real estate, to say the least. Assuming the matter lost was at maximum 50 miles (diameter) vaporized, and 100 miles lost to excessive damage, that still leaves 50 miles of starship left for you, not to mention that with your hordes of robots it should be piecemeal to salvage the wreckage and safely add on a good 20 miles to your hull. That is, unless I miscount your original description and the ship was in fact 2,000 miles long, in which case my attack did little more than break it apart like a cheap lego set, easily reassembled in time.

In any case, I have simply given you a taste of what is to come, and one thing more you must remember; that I am still human behind this keyboard, and am fully capable of making a mistake. My goal is to make this Laser War interesting, whether by balancing out the factions, inputting a random cataclysm, etc. I do not fight to take control, as you might. My only master is justice. You had, to my perception, tipped the scales against you. Consider this a warning to not do so again.

Once more, I have enjoyed following your writing, Reaper, and look forward to your continuation of the story. I am fully open to any improvisation you wish, within reason, but my attack did not leave you helpless. I have done my duty. You would be well advised to remember it. Until we meet again, I will be watching.

Still Rampant,
Dolorous

And one piece of advice Reaper: I would consider it unwise to simply brush off my attack. You have been warned.

By necessity I am forced to post late at night mostly. Today is a rare exception, but since everyone seems to have departed, my chance withers once again. I bore no ill will, Reaper. I look forward to our next encounter.

While I apologize for throwing a rash display of temper, which was uncalled for, I still have a few problems.

1.Yes, your goal is to balance everything out, but I had a carefully laid out plot, and it was almost shattered, if I hadnt quickly created the idea that the Tempest that had been destroyed was a hologram.

2. Your posts are not very interactive, they leave little room to maniuplate the plot. While this is understandable, on account of your nocturnal writing habits, which, as you said, are a necesessity, and limit your ability to interact, I find it hard to continue the story if my options are not limitless.

3. You are very creepy.

While Chronus was talking to the mysterious individual, he realized something, that, in his attempts to protect his ship, he had not considered.

Wait, he thought. This surely could not have been the one who had almost destroyed his ship..

These thoughts worried him greatly..

Perhaps the force that had attempted to destroy his force was not a natural phenomenon, as he had assumed earlier...

Whatever was happening, he realized that he might be up against the most powerful force he had yet to contend with..

"could it be true?" he whispered to himself, so the newcomer would not hear.
"is it possible that one of them is still alive?"

*chuckles* Why, thank you. That kind of improv is what we need though. Take for example Xeroh's plot for the Godsends in Laser War: The New Age. We both played back and forth with our stories, giving ourselves freedom and taking liberties at times, but it ended up being my personal favorite of all the stories I've participated in here. Part of the game is allowing setbacks, failures, and compromises make your story better. I thought it would have been interesting if you had forged the fragments into 2 ships, but whatever you wish is fine. I just find the hologram trick cliché. *shrugs*

True, I don't allow for much room, but again, necessity is the mother of all brevity... were I to post more often, it would not be so. *laughs* and I'm not nocturnal by choice. Indeed, I am extremely blessed to be a morning person as much as an evening person, yet school eats up morning, so you can suppose where my preference falls.

Oh, and if I seem distant, it's because I try to act in character for these kinds of things. I consider this a little practice for my writing, and hopefully a jumpstart into writing plots (which I have always had difficulty with. My writing style leans more towards poetry). Anyway, We'll just have to see where this goes. Until then...
