Tumultuous rain, drenching the very skin of the earth.
Tremors rising, the ground shuddered with the piercing cold.
Soaking wet hair draped about her face, she slowly yet deliberately pulled her head from the mud. Forcing her eyes to be open, if just a crack, she uncurled from her fetal position and with great effort flopped over onto her back. As if she had just undergone a great deal of physical exertion, a soft sigh poofed from her lips.
The pounding drops of rain carved through the mud that caked her face, forming channels through which the rain could lament her tears.
Whimpers wracked her body, assaulting her senses. Her eyelids twitched, then shut. The desert storm spiraled around her, with only the jagged blackened crags to wince at her sorrow. The freezing mud seeped into her motionless body, becoming one with her blood, slowing it to oozing sludge.
She untensed all of her muscles, one at a time. She just exhaled and let the earth suck her in, devour her.
She was awakened from her slumber of torment by a strange hymm, seemlingly sung by the rain.
"Tested by the slaughter,
lifeless living lost;
the satyrs and the haters,
perverting glory loth;
a world in burning strife,
justice meaning naught;
the forge of fire burns again,
with hatred it is wrought"
The intense cackling laughter of the electrical storm merged into one dull roar, as darkness faded to night, and night to black slumber.
As she was born, sound slowly faded into her soft ears. She heard the ca-caw of an oasis bird, and the tune of the wind blowing through a reed pipe.
She opened her eyes without great endeavor to behold a breathtaking spectrum of blurred color. She lay in a bed softer than the enveloping mud, clean and refreshed, amid a massive wreath of color. The vivid reds blurred softly into the purples and oranges. The pummeling of the rain had subsided into the trickling of a stream and the feel of mist on her face.
She sat up, bewildered and amazed at her new utopia and good fortune. She lay in a silk robe, adorning her soft yet war-hardened skin. She sat there immortalized in her beauty, rivalled only by the flower garden she sat within.
Her terrors of before seemed like someone elses problems... They never really happened to her. A smile spread across her rosy lips, as she was an innocent girl again. She tossed her golden hair about her, caressing her shoulders as giggles bubbled up out of her mouth.
The scene was brilliant, the shine of her hair and tan skin shone golden in the vibrant light of the sun with the myriad of colors of the garden framing her in mystique.
She stood up and didn't even recognize the still bloodstained sword that lay at the foot of her bed.
