Will it still use Windows Live ID, or are you guys planning on another system?

@spawn031

"So much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by ourselves, so it's gratifying to have something you have done linger in people's memories." John Williams

I would like another system.

Whoo.

"I hope it requires users to have an Xbox Live or PSN account to create an account on here. That way people can't just make pointless alts. It should however be able to detect users on the same IP. I think with a new flush of community members (PSN) it would help in investing lots of time into one account.

It's same to assume that many people on Bungie.net have multiple accounts for personal use. But it's grown to a level that it's taken for granted that nearly everyone DOES have these accounts when thats not it at all. However I see a change for this in the near future, and Bungie being able to detect this."

Spawn you can just sign into Xbox.com once and have a XBL account, it would just be a minor inconvenience. :P

Plus Bungie can already track IPs, in fact it's something they'd actually have to work to avoid doing, but they can't just put in a "I banz j00" algorithm.

"That's about all that can be said for plots, which anyway are just one thing after another, a what and a what and a what.

Now try how and why."

Don't take it from me, but the uncle of a friend of mine told me that it will consist of a series of trials involving wit, grammar, and an encyclopedic knowledge of Ichthyology. It must be taken every seven days or the user's account will be banned and seven men in overcoats will jump from the shadows and carry them away. They will never be heard from again. It's expected to cut the amount of spam on the site in half.

True story.

I don't want to mistakingly unlink my account so I'm gonna keep it the way it is :)

Given that the game their working on is going to be released on multiple platforms, a reliance on using WLID seems... odd. I'd guess that the web team have created a kind of "hub" account - a bungie.net login (@seventhcolumn.bungie.net email addresses!?!?) - where you can link your multiple services from third parties (Xbox LIVE, PSN/SEN, etc...).

Also, with the emergence of numerous public APIs in recent times by the big web companies (Facebook, Google, etc...) I'm hoping the web team whips up something similar. There's quite a lot the community could accomplish with something like that.

Troll confirmed. I never even insulted you

OP - You're a dumbass with the reading comprehension skills of a second grader.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

Hopefully Bnet will use their own servers for email and stuff. :D

More in depth in the stats API that already exists? Which, might I add, no longer requires a Bungie Pro subscription to generate a key.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

It's going to be something extra special

Not so much in the [game] stats region (Bungie already nailed that with the Reach API), what I'm talking about is programmatic access to bungie accounts, forums, groups, etc...

PAX 08, Third Team against Luke and Shishka, AR dual to
the Death, won by one point... Assembly hasn't changed.

urk: "This is a bad idea."
DeeJ: "Hold still..."

I say we go back to a sacrificial system.

You know, you offer a sacrifice to the gods, and in a few weeks time after having properly enjoyed your offering (in whatever manner they enjoy their sacrifices) they will hold a gathering to see if you are fit to once again enter their halls.

Sure....There won't be the same amount of traffic on the site as there is now...But do you have a better idea?

Wasn't sure what you originally meant, thanks for clarifying.

That being said, I do agree with you. An API that has all the access to what you said on top of the stats access would be pretty cool and open a lot of opportunities for the community to develop something.

I don't want to lose my wlid and account on bnet :/

  • 02.16.2012 11:20 PM PDT

Tallahassee?
I spent two weeks in Tallahassee one night.

As long as I don't have to change all my login info they can do whatever they want.

  • 02.16.2012 11:49 PM PDT

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

I'm almost certain bungie.net will not have users use a WLID. However, I'm pretty sure Bungie will not say anything about the update, until the day before of it's release, or when it is actually released.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

I would rather keep the same system, but with a modification that will let PSN users sign in with their information as well.
