i think it woulda been hell for the humans more then that for the covs because we all remember how fast the covenant blew up 2 MACs. What was it... a matter of minutes?
Also...remember how much damage those Scarabs did? There is only one master chief and the covenant prolly have a ton of Scarabs. If they deployed them all over we would be owned.

Yeah....in 500 hundred years..the population *military only in this case* would be around 5 billion and then there are over 300 Super MAC cannons orbiting 300 cities on the planet. I'd say the Covenant had to lose a ship or a thousand.

Like 5billion for the US alone...lol

Yea,I agree. The covenant should be just a little stronger in Halo 3.But I need to say
that if this game doesn't have an ending, there are going to be a lot of pretty mad
people.Don't you think.please reply.

oly oly oxen free

prehaps people are forgeting that the covenant are in possesion of a forerunner ship. that could probably wipe out Earth's defences with ease.

I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.

"well you could qupte on mine...and agree with it."

Oh yeah, forgot about you. I usually don't take the time to comment on all the user's stuff, mostly just stupid posts that I disagree with. Yours however, wasn't as dumb as some other stuff I've seen. Anyway, I'm being too much of a nerd who stays up at 2:00 AM posting on Bungie, so I now must flee.

Dont you guys know how to quote.

To respond to people I feel like quoting,

"Dont you guys know how to quote. "

No, infact, I have no idea how to quote, also, I don't really care how. :)
Also, that isn't really a question if it dosn't have a question mark at the end, is it dumbass?

Look, before you start trying to sound smart, try to get a vague idea of how to spell first. It really helps.

"i think it woulda been hell for the humans more then that for the covs because we all remember how fast the covenant blew up 2 MACs. What was it... a matter of minutes?

To deploy a Scarab, you'd actually have to be in vague proximity of the ground. That would mean you allready would have blew up the MAC cannons. And by then we'd be totally screwed anyway.

To be honest, we dont know if Earth has been completely defeated. New Mombasa was annihilated, thats a given, but do you realy think three capitol ships, (with no brutes) and a forerunnner ship, (with only brutes drones and jackals) could have wiped out a planet? doubtfull.

We don't know if Earth was defeated? HAVE YOU SEEN THE HALO 3 TRAILER? From what I know Halo 3 happens about a week after Halo 2 at maximum, and...wait...what's the cheif walking in? Oh yeah, RUINS. The covies allready destroyed Earth.

"but do you realy think three capitol ships, (with no brutes) and a forerunnner ship,"
With no brutes? The only forces left in the Covenant wishing to destroy Humans are Brutes, Drones and Jackals. You got it all wrong.

"and a forerunnner ship, (with only brutes drones and jackals)"
Wait wait, You just said there where no brutes, but now you say there are brutes? Do I smell a hypocrite?

"could have wiped out a planet? doubtfull."
Covies destroy planets at an insane rate. Say the time was halo 3, so since the beginning of when Chief was recruited, it's been 30 years or so? Thirty years to wipe out galaxies of human outposts. Wow.

alright. first of all, i said new mombasa was pwned. thats what hes walking on. not the whole earth. just new mombasa. this is aside form the fact that the human race cant be extinct, it would ruin what youve been fighting for for the past two games.

second of all, when the cheif was fighting on earth, there were no brutes on those ships.
u have to remember this was pre-covenant civil war.

now when truth arrived, the elites amd grnuts and hunters wer enot with him sonmce they had broke off. therefore that ship only has those races loyal to him.

rthink before u talk

agreed, the humans shouldn't just hand it over. Master cheif should be in the heat of battle all the time ! imagine partisipating in the battles like they had on reach !

oh and aside form reach, those WERE just outposts. this is a home planet. most populated of any planet in human hands. Probably the most monumental task the covenant had to take to date.

i hate to double post but while were ont he subject.... what if those were the elites in the trailer and they were opening the forerunner structure to help the humans? its a viable theory i thnk.

The Covenant hierarchy was in shambles when they attacked Earth since their fleet and troops were involved in a civil war (and they had lost the Elite, Hunter and Grunt castes).

At the same time the Chief in the trailer was walking over an area that was destroyed by the Cruiser-Jump from Halo 2 (remember the prophet ship that jumped in city?) So the destruction you see does not mean that Earth has been lost.

So why not wait till the actual game comes out to see if Earth actually was in fact lost or not?

knocking us out of orbit of our sun for just 8mins and one second would freeze us all too death.

and kill the gravity too.

the forerunners sis manage to build machines that could kill all sentient life in the galaxy, why not be able to build like a shield or barrier that could activate and encirlcle earth to protect life on it?

depends if the elites joined up to fight the covenant.... obviously not very happy about the council being murdered....

and you got the arbitor and the big white elite...

both military leaders...

so.. if the elites by some chance happen to be on 'humanity's' side.. then the chances are good we would survive...

of course if you add the flood and possibly the forerunners into the equation.. evenyone loses.

well the flood as far as we know and assuming in amber clad is broken, the flood have no way to get too earth, and the forerunner are extinct, thereofre making their contributions to the battle for eath a moot point. but i know that i saw plenty of covenant int eh trailer and NOT ONE of them shot at a human standing so close to a holy forerunner artofact. if they were not allied, wouldnt they have been shooting at him??

Well if you want another argument for the whole 'Battle of Earth' (as someone mentioned), the Covenant took out 2 of the Earth MAC gun stations, so there would probably be a sizable hole in the defence grid... enough for an expiditionary force for say, a prophet and his Arc-ship? So perhaps that justifies the covie ships we saw in the trailer?

Another point is that Covenant ships have been known to be able to accurately jump to within planetary atmosphere. So perhaps the ships we saw in the trailer jumped directly to the artifact site? - And once again not meaning that Earth was lost!

If you got 314 from the books remember their not official cannon for the Halo story line... The games are though.... :P

Wrong. The books are canon. I have yet to see a quote where someone from Bungie has said that books are not canon.

When Lord hood said 50 times this size all he was saying that the fleet that attacked Reach was a lot bigger.

it says in a weekly update that the covenant there are not a battle group, they are an excavating force, suggesting that they are not intending to encounter resistance. this shows that the ships there cant be the ones that jumped there under regret's command. the forces we saw in the trailer did not expect to see combat, so wouldnt that suggest, they were covenant sepratists (elites) who allied with humans?

I dont care what any of you say, the humans are completely F't up the A. the covanent on the other hand are scared because of the SPARTANS running around and they never know what is around the next corner, a group of weak marines, or a pissed off SPARTAN.

its liek a math problem the covenant is a 6, the humans are a 2. 6 is bigger than two. wiping it out. but if 3 of that 6 joins the two the equation becomes 5 against 3. and i know theres going to be some morin out there who says thats too complicated to understand

EARTH HAS NOT BEEN LOST!!! At least not at the begging of Halo 3 or at the end of Halo 2. At the ending movie to 2 when MC and the forrunner ship enter Earths system there are still alot of exposions going on and Hood seemed as if he was still busy fighting so Earth hasn't been lost yet. But yes I do believe that so far it has been hell. As for our defenses sticking up idk if they will, but it sure seems like it.

Remember, this was only an excatvationg roup-they didn't expect human forces on Earth. And due to the Covenant Civil war, they won't be getting any reinforcements soon if they haven't heard of the war yet.
Also, they are looking for something Earth, so just like Reach, they won't go glassing everything. And assuming why they don't know where what they are looking for is, They wouldn't risk glassing anything.
In simplest terms, Earth had a fighting chance. (Saying had because Bungie themselves say that Earth has fallen)
