Me and my friend were playing forge on Halo Reach and we came up with an idea. Our idea was that 'what if enemies can be created in forge?'

Before we look at the cons of this I strongly suggest we look at the pros. (I know your thinking "how can I know the pros and cons when it hasn't even been thought of yet?") But I would like you all to cast your minds back to Halo 3 please. Nearly everyone has played the modded map 'Halo Wars' which features NPC Elites and Spartans. Eventhough they do not even move it is still one of the funnest maps people would play. The endless fun of sniping Elites, the satisfying feeling of splattering loads of Spartans with a Ghost. Also Bungie, you could interact it with firefight just like Forge and Custom games. What I mean by the scope of this (no pun intended) is that we could construct our own firefight maps. We can already customise what enemy we face and what weapons we have at the start etc etc; but does the map have to be mandatory?

Now it is time to start looking at the cons, surely this will have glitches when it is first released so a beta test may need to be performed. This not only costs money on Bungie's part, but there is no gurantee that everyting will go to plan.In addition, the $10,000 budget on forge is roundabout enough to build a decent map. Presumably if they are added to Forge then they will cost $ which means not a wide range of people will use them.

I know that this is probably too big of an update to be put into Halo Reach but because Halo 4 is coming out soon, I hope that you will consider this Bungie as I am sure that I am not the only person who wants this to happen.

I'm terribly sorry, I forgot that Bungie do not own the Halo franchise anymore, where I say Bungie think '343 Industries.'

Bump.

Yes, yes, yes.

If reach had allowed you to place covenenant, marines and ODSTs in Forge it would have been a game changer.

I can only imagine the kind of scenarios players would create

Lets try and show 343 Industries this is what we want in Halo 4!

  • 02.17.2012 7:11 AM PDT

Bump.

Most of what I say is sarcasm, the rest is of the highest intellect.

Good idea, I support this.

That said, don't bump your own thread. It's not cool.

Sorry I won't bump it again I had no intention of being cool sorry

Doing this on Bungie's site won't show 343 anything. Derp.

Arbitor they outnumber us three to one!
Then it is an even fight.

Arbitor > Arbiter.
Arbitor = Rank above Arbiter.

A big thanks to kids that did this to 343 after they heard they get an infection game mode in halo 4 with no thought of normal playlists.

I like this idea but you should be able to put them on turrents and veichles and control where they patrol so they don't walk out of bounds unless that's what you want, I also want to make firefight maps and have a bigger map then forge world and to be able to make night and day and terrain, I'm sick of the grassland and what about the veichles we wanted since halo 3? Pelicans, phantoms, elephants, scarabs also why not forge in space? Seraphs, space banshees, sabres, also npcs should be able to be placed on teams, like 3 grunts on red team and 3 on blue team, now that would be a fun team slayer

I agree with you completely

I am your sword... I am your Shield...

You could have a combat training mode similar to Black Ops combat training (haters gonna hate :/ ). I also thought that brutes, should be playable. Just like elites, spartans, and Odsts. All with their own advantages and disadvantages.

Btw, did anyone know elites and spartans in reach are different? Yes, i tested it out, Elites have a bigger hitbox, and can jump slightly higher. They also have slightly stronger shields (i tested this repeatedly in custom games, 7 magnums to a spartan, 8 to an elite. There are many subtle differences. Why couldn't they do it with brutes/odsts?

Reach makes me want to gargle gasoline whiling jerking myself off with sandpaper.

Not possible

Why not?

Always up for REACH customs!

NPCs in Invasion would be awesome. Imagine if when the Elites captured a territory a drop pod full Brute Chieftains would land...!

Yes they do in Reach. They also have stronger shields, a faster run, and a higher jump.

The problem is that the NPCs wouldn't know where to go. They don't have true artificial intelligence that can adapt to any situation, they have a limited amount of scripted paths to follow built into the Campaign and in Firefight maps.

This would require a great leap forward in AI problem solving capacity... and we all know how well Kat drives.

Yes, they have stronger shields and faster run speeds and higher jumps. But they don't have a larger hitbox.
