this theory/idea is probably thought up by many, but thought i'd post this as my first posting in a forum lol have you ever noticed that anything that has to do with a Forerunner object, the Halo rings for example, also involve the Flood? i'm taking a wild guess that alot of pple on here have seen the trailer to Halo 3, and that the structure in the center of the crater does belong to the Forerunners. here's the idea: what if the Flood have been buried underneath Earth's surface the whole time, and that by activating that structure, the Covenant are just opening a huge door (not literally) for the Flood to get out onto Earth?

It won't really matter, hover pahntoms or a capital ship above the entrance and fire in as the flood pour out. Also, that would allow Elites, Hunters, and the Chief to enter in the way that you can enter before activating the ARK. There would be a side path to get in and just have them go in, clear out the control rooms, then have a massive invasion into the ARK to kill all the flood off.

Question: Why didn't the forerunners engineer an anti-flood virus instead of the huge kamikazi halo machine.

Because they weren't as smart as we thought. Also, because the Halos look cool. They had to make themselves cool, didn't they?

Because the flood isn't a virus its a parasite. So unless everyone in existance got a whole lottle plasma grenades and threw them around like Sgt Johnson, a 'anti-flood' virus would be hopelessly ineffective...

he means a virus to attack the flood.. duh
he wasnt calling them a virus he was saying if you had an artifical virus it could destroy all threats of flood, and engineer it to not affect us (maybe the covenants tho) :D

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN???

you can't attack the flood with a virus! They are pretty much walking corpses and a virus won't do jack shiot to infection forms or spores or anything!

That is a good thought, though I thought that since it's so huge it could hold a more giant and powerfull Gravemind.

cos if there was an anti-flood virus there would be no need for a halo therefore no basis for THE greatest game on earth.

The Flood are obviously going to be part of Halo 3, having said that I personally feel it is unlikely that Bungie would go for such an obvious turn of events, and the flood would be fairly useless as there are no corpses to possess.
