Subject: Are Elites really that great?..

Jack

To be honest they seemed like, "Woahh.." in Halo Combat Evolved but now they're not as impressive, they're now between 7 and 8 feet tall, and most surprisingly only on average to weigh about 144kg's, not a huge lot bigger than a large Marine, if it wasn't for their higher gravity home-world and a double set of pectoral muscles, they really wouldn't be much tougher than humans, my personal opinion is that they're only about 4 times stronger, a spartan would kick their ass, almost as big, far faster reactions they simply couldn't follow their movements not to mention strength, a spartan in MJOLNIR is a match for a brute, so really Elites aren't so hot, a smart and cunning ODST is surely a match for them!

I've read them all except the Cryptum series? And sure they might be but they are a tad full of themselves and the 400lb figure is probably with their Armour on?

Elites beat humans in every way possible except in adaptiveness.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I'm personally not a big fan of Elites. Except for the Arbiter. You gotta love the Arbiter.

Spartans are not a match for Brutes, if they were, they wouldn't need a frag grenade to kill one in close quarters combat.

I dont know where your getting your information. Elites usually weigh about 400lbs and they are as tough as ever and excellent warriors. Have you ever even read any of the Halo books?

It is between 318lbs and 390lbs actually.

Not everything on Halopedia is correct...

Reflexes are only as good as your body speed. You can have reflexes faster then you are physically able to move.

And this, if a brute could lift himself, and Master chief in full mark V armor WITH extra weight of guns/ammo/grenades off the floor with a single arm, while his other is twisted further back then even a Spartan could handle, as well as the fact Master Chief was actively pinning the brute to the floor...

I wouldn't say a Spartan is = to a brute in hand to hand strength. Ranged combat sure.

This is why Brutes are my favourite enemies in Halo, not Elites; they are terrifyingly strong....I wish they were more book-canon in the gameplay. It'd be exhilirating to face a Brute who could melee you several feet back if you got too close and stuff.

Populate Halo 3 April 7

Dude, Elites are amazing. there's a reason why elites are always worth more points than brutes on FF and the campaign. If you run up to an elite, he will 50% of the time kick your face off. If you run up to brute, it's harder to assassinate him but he will never hit you. (unless your on halo 2.) Elites become good guys. Brutes are like gorillas, kinda mindless, stupid, I think elites are awesome.

  • 02.18.2012 10:30 AM PDT

In headhunters The two Spartans discuss if they are against Gorillas or 'gators being brutes or elites and they would rather face Elites as they are smart and theyfore predictable, they follow set patrols and fight in similar styles but Brutes are unpredictable and wild thrashing out randomly. I Believe that Elites are really that great, They are stronger, faster and technically better warriors than humans. What they lack is that ingenuity or randomness that humans have. Sometimes it is best to break regulation or change tactics or do something spontaneous such as the Keye's loop which Keyes states is acctually incredibly stupid and risky but An Elite would never even consider this.

So, Death or Bungie?

Elites are smart and strong. I wouldn't -blam!- with them, their punch is deadly.

See, now that's what we need, some more info on the Covenant god dammit. There seems to be a general mindset about the Covenant in general,

(Aliens that are advanced because they rode on the backs of other alien technologies but are actually stupid)

You have to remember these other species reached space flight before we did, and were exploring beyond their systems long before we ever could.

Throw in that the Covenant is a caste system and it sure makes certain species look dumb because they have specific roles that must be followed.

Make no mistake, Elites and all the other species are as good or better than us, but we have a few quality's that they don't, and vice versa.

Or, they simply evolved first?

If we are going to play this card then I may as well mention the Ancient Human Empire and stuff.

I don't think it is unreasonable for folk to assume that Humanity is the sharpest knife in the drawer, just like the Elites are the best warriors or the Brutes are the strongest. Humanity would make for the -blam!-iest "Reclaimers" if they were unable to compete in any way with all the other races. That, and the last thing Halo's writing needs is to go emo with the mundane puny Humans trope. Less Halo War's cutscenes, but not that far down the road. That's just as bad.

I'm not necessarily saying we should go with the whole humans are puny route either, but throughout most of Halo's lore, it always seems to promote humanity more than every other race, now granted, I can see why (human writers, duh, the end of the Covenant being fairly recent, the lore and exploration hasn't arrived yet) but it always seems to just portray the Covenant as being advanced technologically because of discovered technology.

I personally think elites are awesome especially when you finally got to fight along side them when you are the arbiter in the mission The Arbiter on halo 2 there was an awesome one with a sweet voice and the captain in the beginning scene was really cool also. There also some of the best warriors too that fight with honor.

How can a single spartan and 6 marines outlast waves of Elites and grunts thrice their number if a single Elite is more than a match for that force?

Proof?

Face it guys. For all their physical strength, and biological predatory instincts, Spites did fall to normal human troopers in one on one fights.

If you do not believe me, how is it a vastly outnumbered and outgunned force gave them so much damn trouble tor over 3 decades? H
ow is it that such impossibly strong alien monsters can die from such an inferior species? How can a single spartan and 6 marines outlast waves of Elites and grunts thrice their number if a single Elite is more than a match for that force?

For all their honor and arrogance, the Sangheili are just another alien in the iron sights of humanity.

you do understand that was the entire point of their theme?

The covenant would be several times more stronger than man if they actually understood the technology and used it right. It was showing how a foolish religion blinded that race since they were the only ones to really believe it.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

Elites are equal to spartans, as shown in Halo 2 and 3 and Halo Reach shows that higher raking elites are even tougher than Spartans.

Brutes are superior to both in terms of strength, but the elites and Spartans are faster and more agile. Plus the games make out as though the brutes are weaker than Spartans when they are not
