I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.
Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.
What Dwells Within These Chapters?
I visited the odd, and dark side of bungie.net a moment ago. After stalking certain users, I encountered various, odd private groups in which I believe are related somehow. Here are the following chapters:
[LETTUCE] Founded 8.27.2003
HFCS Founded 4.19.2004
PANTS Founded 2.08.2005
CARROT Founded 2.13.2006
FUDON Founded 8.13.2008
YKTMTTD Founded 27.08.2009
Cake Bakers Anonymous Founded 8.24.2010 (Credit to CTN 0452 9)
Welcoming Committeep Founded 1.25.2012 (Credit to CTN 0452 9)
What Do These Initials Stand For?
This is where you guys come in, and will hopefully help me. Do these initials stand for something significant? Or will we discover that the initals used in these groups are merely inside jokes within an inside group? Or is it to amuse the members, watching users such as myself pondering over their group's existence?
I have one finding thus far, which consists of three words, in which I believe correlate to the final initials in the group YKTMTTD. These words are: 'Time', 'to', and 'dance'.
I believe these are the correct words, as indicated by the actual link on the group: http://www.bungie.net/fanclub/timetodance/Group/GroupMembers.aspx
YKTMTTD: You know the music, time to dance. (Credit to Homeboyd 903)
Similarities Between the Chapters
The chapters with the strongest link thus far, is definitely [LETTUCE] and CARROT. Not only are these groups names the names of vegetables (I know that sounded stupid), but they also both have the same motto and group background:
Motto in both [LETTUCE] and CARROT:
This is a PRIVATE chapter for specially invited members. If you have not been specifically, specially, or spectacularly invited, you will not be accepted.
However, [LETTUCE] and CARROT both have different founders. [LETTUCE], of course, being founded by SketchFactor, and Carrot being founded by our once beloved Kunilko (who has a really cool avatar, by the way). However, Kunilko was never a member of [LETTUCE].
YKTMTTD and FUDON also bear a similarity. This is within their mottos also. While not exactly the same, they are ridiculously alike.
YKTMTTD's Motto:
Nothing to see here. Move along.
FUDON's Motto:
Move along, there's nothing to see here....
Either urk got lazy attempting to copy SketchFactor's motto perfectly in the group FUDON, or both urk and SketchFactor have a very similar taste in what they like to have as their mottos in their private groups.
Differences Between the Chapters
I believe that HFCS is no way affiliated or connected with any of the groups listed within this thread. Although it holds the similarity with the other listed groups, in that all the group names consist of capitalized, initials, it is completely alone, in that it is far more public than the other groups listed.
This is evident by the fact that there is actually news in the 'News' section of the chapter.
The Leauge of the Web Team!
This is pretty far fetched, just like the rest of this thread I know. However, what if these groups actually consist of the members tackling issues on bungie.net itself?
I.e. When not together and in need of much more work (due to the constraints of deadlines), the Bungie employees part of some of these groups, gather to share information, and talk about their latest work involving bungie.net. Statistics, aesthetics and the sort. Also, there could be deadlines set etc.
Cake Bakers Anonymous
- Cake Bakers Anonymous could have been a group dedicated to the organization of a 'single scheduled PAX visit (or maybe multiple'. (Credit to sam da man 2008, and Sonic John)
Notes:
- If any interest is taken in to this thread, I will continue to update it.
- I hope you enjoyed reading it. Whether it was laughing at my outlandish and far-fethced thoughts, or being actually interested.
- Any contributions from the community will be credited within a new section in the 'reserved post'.
- I hate DeeJ.
- Apologies if a thread like this has been made recently.
- I will organize this thread once more if the community takes an interest in to it. I didn't spend long planning this thread, to be honest.
Disclaimer: Sorry for the lack of correct spelling and grammar, but my laptop is not dying on me, as of late, and my spell-check and grammar-check is no longer working.
