Note to Bungie: while references to the Halo Universe will be made during this post, this is more a "wish list" for users with deference to titles made for the Xbox 720 platform.
=====
With predictions now being heard the Xbox 720 won't be appearing this year's E3; following an article on IGN, gamers are left hanging on new information. However, at last year's E3 we saw the Halo 4 trailer, intended for launch Christmas 2012. While the cinematic experience tells more an aesthetic picture, like most trailers from the saga, it's presence is setting a pretty high bar for gameplay enviroments that could be being built to match. With desktops getting smaller with the likes of Alienware's new "X51" concept, and GPUs cramming larger detail into every GB of processing power, what does this bode for the successor to the Xbox 360 or, more to the point, what we users would like to see the console being capable of.
Now Halo is not the only game of concern - there is also Bioware's next big franchise after Mass Effect; the possibility of Fallout 4; - and, of course, Bungie's next project with Activision. Even if the first "Grognok" title is released in Q3 2012, the second of what is likely to be a trilogy will be built for Xbox 720, taking advantages of features that build on the 360's earlier success. So the question is, what do users want?
I'll start off (wishes in order of importance):
1) Scrapping the despicable "Region-Lock" system
2) Improved functionality with Kinect² with four-player capture and multi-IR sensing
3) Integrated HD-DVD/Blu-Ray drive
4) The possibility of Fully 3D games
5) USB 3.0 ports for increased throughput
6) "Media Centre Xbox" OS - allowing for greater connection to PC
7) To replace the removal of memory catridges, include an optimised slot for 32GB/64GB SDHC Gaming cards
8) Create docking station for additional USB ports, and to provide cooling system
