Ok, marines were really annoying in H1 and H2, they mainly managed to just get themselves killed or kill me with a grenade. I think commands in H3 would remedy many of the problems.

i agree. i mean, u r Master Chief (for most of the time) so wouldnt the Marines be inclined to listen to ur orders? u should b able to order them all ovr the place.

Old GTs; RebelRobot, Flamedude

Yeah I also hope there are some basic commands. Defend, attack, follow, wait would be all you needed without getting too complicated.

Hell yeah!!!

<<other than the fact that they are mostly useless and weak and pathetic, it would be nice to command them, so wouln't get themselves killed as easier, for exampe a "follow me command" for them to stay behind you and give you covering fire>>

What the hell? I thought everyone here hated ideas that related to Ghost Recon and other war games, so what's the deal?

If they do it like Rainbow Six 3........

But not too much like it.......I would like the marines to think for themselves..........

Or perhaps their squad leaders order them to do things....................

Now that's a good idea, the marines have a squad commander who orders them around, and their mission is to follow the Master Chief around and provide cover, so it would retain a Halo feel without the war-strategy element.

That will do just fine...............

But I would still like to give them specialized orders........perhaps just few simple ones............

Like cover fire and defensive positions; none of the "move here and there" orders anyone wants to find in Halo.

BUNGIE COULD JUST MAKE THEM BETTER OR LET US GIVE THEM ORDERS

  • 05.20.2006 10:45 AM PDT

rather than giving them commands im sure Bungie will increase the AI on the marines with the advanced abilities of 360...im sure this time around they will be much smarter and more inteligent to interact with thier surroundings

I think your pinki is on the caps key................... ;)

But I think it would be an intersting concept..........I rather have the marines think for themselves and have their squad leaders order them on the battle field..............

Sure smater AI is desirable, but perhaps you want to select which marine sits in which seat, like putting a RL marine in the side seat of the warthog rather than on the gun, or place allies in specific spots to set and ambush. Commands like the "advance" "follow" "hold position" and "get in/out of vehicle" seems the most useful.

they should have commands but they should draw the line somewhere. basicly have it so the four d-pad directions signals a different thing

lol and to quote your signature Sgt_Meyer................ i totally agree

I want to be able to give them voice commands, you know yell at them that they shouldn't waste ammo on corpses, it's such a waste when I have to hit them to let them stop.

A few basic commands i guess could work quite well, but too many could turn it into a tom clancy game.

You face an opponent who has never known defeat, who laughs in foreign tongues at your efforts to survive. This is Reply suicide.

"Oh Molly Connoly ruined my life, I thought the world should know."
Say Anything - Every Man Has A Molly

I always thought that if Bungie was going to give the AI infinite ammo... why not code them to EXPLOIT it? Not very realistic!

A rocket launcher guy tends to only fire at VEHICLES (STUPID!) and if there are no vehicles present, he stands around stupidly.

You never see any AI reload, or AI weapon cooldowns... Sure, they're programmed to TAKE pauses... But they obviously have infinite ammo with no reloads...

Why not program them to exploit this?

Also... I've always wanted to be able to tell my marines to prioritize targets. You know, ignore the grunts and jackals, and concentrate firepower on the single sword elite.

Or to get under cover...

Maybe even a HUGE "retreat" command.

Heck, it would even be nice to tell which marines to get in and out of which vehicles and sideseats.

I'm sick of my rocket launcher guy grabbing the turret in the warthog. STUPID!

I also HATE how my marines will just stand there and take hit after hit until they die. STUPID.

They went to a military training thing, and bungie didn't encorporate ANY kind of military strategy or formations into the game? That bothers me quite a bit.

It really bothers me that the AI doesn't tell me, "frag out" or whatever, then hits me with a grenade.

They don't even HONK THEIR HORN before running you down. I have to honk my horn so they get out of the way, but they dont' give me the same courtesy?

Screw that! I'm killing them and taking their weapons, like in Halo 1.
